Notes: The name of the venue changed very recently, so you may see it listed elsewhere as First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre. This is my first of five shows on this tour, and I absolutely love the gems they've added to the setlist this time around. Recorded from lower pavilion section 102 row Z. Unlike the KWS opening set, the crowd around me was well-behaved, so there's very little interference from them. As for the performance, like most reviews so far, the band sounds amazing. Dave is hit and miss, but we're just glad to have him. Enjoy!

Great sounding recording. One of the first 1992 European concerts, right after Dire Straits' US and Canadian tour. Great to hear another 1992 version of Planet of New Orleans and it seems that Your latest trick became part of the standard setlist from this month on. Also including a great sounding version of You and your friend and a very enthusiastic audience. Nice atmosphere. Complete concert.

Notes: There were 2 broadcasts (Dutch television) of this gig which contained different songs that's why Insignificance, Better Man figure twice. Minor hickup during MFC (probably the tape). No menu and chapters. Skip every 5 minutes.

notes: Ed is wearing another Tivoli shirt, like the home-made one in 1992. The band is in a very good mood and Ed is dancing a lot. Ed says, “Is it okay if I speak English, because the only thing I know in Dutch is how to order pot in a cafe. It is nice to be back and thanks for having us. It is much more beautiful then I remember it. [smiles] It is also nice to be out of America for the last couples of weeks … in America what we do for fun, because we have some kind of advanced culture … [the crowd boos, Ed smiles] so we have some very futuristic ways of handling our overpopulation problem and that is we give each other guns and kill one another – because it is fucking fun! [Ed makes a shoot sound]. Anyway, here are a couple of songs about killing one another. This is called ‘Rival.’” Ed dedicates ‘Light Years’ to Diane Muus from Sony Music. (She died in 1997 at an age of 33 and knew the band very well.) “So that was about a friend who is fucking up and there is nothing you can do about it! And you just watch’em go down down down. And then, other times you have got friends that don’t fuck up at all and are great people. And then you just lose them for some reason. They are of the planet and you never had a chance to say goodbye. I only mention this because there was a person we used to know here and that was Diane and ah, we never got a chance to say goodbye. This is goodbye!’ Before “Fucking Up,’ he is telling the crowd that Gomez will play in the tent next to center stage and that Moby is coming later. He says, “I’ve been told that there is another Ed (Ed Kowalczyk from Live) walking around here, but I’ve been told that I give better Ed than he does” [smiling]. He smashes two tambourines with his head during ‘Fuckin’ Up’ and tosses one to the crowd, and takes photos of the crowd at the end of the song. Later he’s smiling and says, “Ha, we’re easy … sometimes” likely referring to the fact that they do an encore for a festival. He asks, “Hey, Brett. Are you there? Can you hear me? Do you have the tape from last night?” Brett responds through the PA and says the tape is probably on the bus. Ed rants about the tape as he needs it because they want to leave right after the show. “Well, if he had the tape I would tell you to pass me over there, so I could get the tape and back again to the stage … I think I can trust you guys to do that. But oh well … as you don’t have the tape maybe next time. Oh, there is no next time! Oh, well. This song is called ‘Black.’ Say hello to all my friends in Utrecht.” The last 35 minutes of this show was . Dutch FM radio broadcast ‘MFC’ through ‘Black’ and featured an interview with Mike.

boombox's notes july 2015:
These annual mini Camel tours are quickly becoming one of my highlights of every year since 2013. Unsurprisingly, these shows all pretty much sold out, but I got my ticket as soon as they were announced, so bagged the end of the second row in front of a stack, thinking it a great position to get nice and close to Andy et al, and hopefully where I could get a good recording and some photos and video. Unfortunately, the Forum staff were not the friendliest, pouncing on anyone they saw with a camera. This was a pity as they really did put on a full multi-media show, with excellent lights and some fine 70s-style projections, which would have been lovely to share. As for the setlist, it was a complete change from the previous two outings, with no Snow Goose at all (though St Alban's the previous night got some in a second encore). A much rockier set (Andy told me afterwards that they were trying to do a setlist better suited to the various festivals they are playing this summer) and tough to pick favourites, but special mention has to go to 'Ice', which got a trully well-deserved standing ovation and a fine, bittersweet, 'Long Goodbyes', which featured projections of Chris Rainbow and Guy Le Blanc, who we lost earlier this year. I've included a small folder of the few half decent pics I managed to snap as a memento for those there who weren't so lucky!

As for the recording, it's pretty good, I think, despite the PA being suspended quite high, so back in about row 10 might have been a better location. To compensate, I added a bit of a mid-range hump and took out some of the bass - when Denis hit the floor toms in the louder passages, it was causing my chest to vibrate quite uncomfortably - it's a miracle my mics coped with it. I had to reduce the level of some of the whoops, hollers and clapping of my very enthusiastic neighbour and used just a tiny bit of compression to tame some of the peaks. As always, my 24 bit masters are available for anyone wanting to do a remaster/matrix project: just make sure it's shared here for all to benefit, please.

Third show from the tour on an oddly cold summer night in this suburb east of of San Francisco. Very cool the band opens with "Light Up The Sky," great energy. Ed playing well with the rest of the band. Alex jumps into "Panama" before the band, not sure if this is planned or an accident. Roth was up and down, but not as bad as he has been at times. Most annoying thing is that he talks over the band while they are playing. An example: The band is jamming a nice intro on "Dirty Movies" and Roth talks gibberish all over it. Recorded from the lower bowl. This is an outdoor venue, but has a roof over the sections closest to the stage where I was. Decent recording, clear enough.

We got a shorter show than the previous stops on this new tour, but the show still rocked regardless. There was a storm on the way, so I think they were trying to squeeze in as much as they could before it hit. When a show that's about 2 hours and 20 minutes long is considered the short one of the tour, I'll still take it! Recorded from the last row of the lower pavilion (300 level) to Neil's left.

Show identifiers - "Good Evening Tulsa" at 0:14 of track 1
- "Emil Richards on percussion and crochet... and my name is 'Legs' Larry Smith" in track 12
- "Oh, come on Tulsa!" at 3:13 of track 14
- "... anyway, I only came here cause you've got some great - the greatest of all these rock and boogie woogie players living in town... So - that's why we wanted to come to Tulsa, because I don't know anyone in Okla... [indecipherable]." at 4:48 of track 20

George Harrison and friends at the Tulsa Assembly Centre - the only show played that day. This is the 17th show of the 1974 North American tour. George sounds a bit hoarser than at the show previous day at the St Louis Arena, and acknowledges the fact introducing "Dark Horse" - "...And it should really be called 'I'm a Hoarse Horse', because I'm hoarse..." The show is very enthusiastically received, the audience clapping along during the drum solo of the Indian section, and applauding long and loud for the encore of "My sweet Lord", and again at the end. George joins the Indians on guitar for their last number, "Dispute and Violence". "For You Blue" features a percussion solo by Emil Richards, a trumpet solo by Chuck Findley, a guitar solo (which Findlay keeps preventing George announcing!) by Robben Ford, then a bass solo by Willie Weeks. George again offers a couple of vocal lines in "Soundstage of Mind" - notably "Too many reefers!" at 1:37. It sounds as if someone throws a couple of fireworks at the end of "Maya Love". Leon Russell, in the audience for much of the show, joins the band during "My Sweet Lord".

The recording is one of the best of the tour. It doesn't sound promising at the start, distant, and on a par with any of the others from the tour, and also marred by the taper talking over it and telling us which songs are being played (he also tells us that "While my Guitar Gently Weeps" "sounds horrid!". The recorder is shut off during "Zoom, Zoom, Zoom", but bless his heart, the taper thinks better of it, and tapes the rest of the Indian section. He comments during "Anurag" - "They sure have their sound together as far as acoustics - the mix is perfect". The sound quality picks up at this point too. Perhaps the mixing desk had made adjustments, or maybe the taper moved position, but the Indian section sounds great, and after the interval, the sound is very clear and much more immediate than at the start. An example of the quality of the sound is found on "Maya Love", where bells are heard playing along, perhaps uniquely for tapes from this tour.

This show appeared on Dime a few years ago, and this version is sourced from that one, and many thanks to John Langdon for taping it, and thenewguy for sharing it. There were a couple of minor issues, which have been corrected - a gap a minute or so into "Dispute and Violence" has been removed. The Indian songs weren't separated, which has been done here. There was a very brief speed glitch during "Tom Cat" (1:51) which has been fixed, though there's still a slight audible anomaly. Occasional static (two or three clicks per song) during most songs of the second set has been removed. Using the studio version of "Dark Horse" as a reference, a speed adjustment of 99.01% was made - the speed didn't really sound wrong: it was adjusted more out of curiosity, but it sounded so spot-on that it was kept...

From original notes:
"John Langdon has been taping shows for more than twenty years, a great many of them documenting the music scene in Albuquerque in the 80s and 90s. Most of his shows are on tape cassettes, but a great many of them are on seven or ten inch reels. Over the course of time they will begin to see the light of day and be shared with music lovers everywhere. Thanks to John for his generosity in sharing what he's collected. Warmest Regards Always, etc. etc., The New Guy"

This recording comes from a 40 years old master tape and has never been circulated before. It must have a few glitches from times to times, but it's a miracle that it was not completely gone after all this time. Big thanks to Gérard for digging out his tapes collection, and coming home with some of them, and of course for taping this show at the time! Some parts between the songs may be missing, since the recorder was stopped to save the tape.

There was a VHS compilation called "Bang Bang" in the box from Andre F.  Three hours' worth, and stated to be a compilation of stuff from '87.
In the event, there was a fair bit of stuff that was from 1990 (and a couple of bits from '83 as well), so I've put those aside for now, and added in some bits from other tapes I got from Andre. In all, nineteen nuggets, sixteen from promiting Never Let Me Down and Glass Spider, three from the "Invaders At The Palace" appearance with La-La Human Steps.
Quality is variable, between blurry and black & white (much of the Italian stuff) and near perfection (The Tube, Invaders At The Palace).  Some clips are a couple of minutes, whereas The Tube's a good half hour.
