Recording Comments:
Overall the sound turned out quite nicely, but the entirety of it isn't without some issues. I flew into Pensacola, FL and drove from there to New Orleans, arriving the day of the concert. It rained in New Orleans for approximately 30 hours straight (off and on). So needless to say, many people were making a mass exodus from the park by the time I had arrived. The constant rain did end up causing some issues with how much of a "mud bath" it was and worrying about keeping my microphone dry. I moved a little bit throughout the first few songs and ended up in a nice spot and stayed there for the entire performance, which was about 50 feet back centerstage. The only huge issue is that the last track, "Paranoid", a drop of water or something must've gotten into my microphone and caused a deafening of one of the stereo channels. I did notice a small random amount of "blips" in the sound throughout, which I can only assume were thanks to the never-ending rain. Overall, given the circumstances, this recording is more than acceptable and a good listen. Concert pictures included with this recording were taken with two cameras, to include a Samsung Galaxy S5 at 16 Megapixels and the Intro Video is 1920x1080 HD resolution.

Recording "Proof" Comments:
On track 02, "I Don't Know" at 5:26-5:30, Ozzy Osbourne says, "Give it up for one of my best friends, a guy called Tom Morello". There are a couple of other mentions throughout the recording about the rain and other special guests.

Original Note from fixed version:
This differs slightly from the original seed of this gig. Some glitches were corrected, a TAO gap in the original source was removed, and the levels have been corrected as well (too low in the original seed). It's strongly suggested you download this even if you pulled the original down earlier.

Original seeder Notes:
Another glorious SBD recording of mid-80s New Order, this time from Barcelona, Spain. Lineage is the same stash-o-soundboards from (most likely) Hooky's Suite 16 recording studio, liberated by Brian Whittaker (Revenge touring bassist) via eBay, but previous to selling
copied amongst the NO trading community in the UK.

From a post by OldMonkey on STG:
"A box of mixing desk tapes was found in a rehearsal studio used by Peter Hook. They were advertised on E-bay by Brian Whittaker, former Revenge live guitarist. David Sultan of the website "World in Motion" paid over £500 to win the auction. Before they were sent to David though, they were copied amongst the Manchester bootlegging fraternity, and are now widely available in the UK and wider. Coincidentally (or otherwise, and this is where it gets good), the majority of the shows in this box were the complete gigs from the tracks used on the live disc of Retro (plus quite a few other gigs). It appears as though Hooky meant for them to find their way to the bootleg hardcore......."

Comments: An ALD recording from relatively early in the Police's 2007-2008 reunion tour was posted on DIME in early 2008; it was discovered that the ALD was out of phase -- I don't fully understand what that means, but essentially it means that one of the channels was somehow reversed, resulting in a sub-optimal sound. A corrected version was posted by "hildie" in March 2008 to address the issue. I admit that I don't fully understand the lineage, but this version sounded quite a bit better than the original and in fact, I think it's one of the better-sounding recordings from the Police's reunion tour.

In terms of performance, I have a hard time distinguishing one night from the other. This was a great nostalgia show, and the band was well-rehearsed and did a good job reproducing their hits from one night to the next with few deviations. I like the early part of the tour because the setlist was longer (roughly 120 minutes) than the end (about 105 minutes), by which time they'd cut some of the material that appears in this show.

Now that we're a few years removed from their reunion and the excitement has worn off, I don't think it's necessary to have more than a couple shows from this tour -- but I think this one should survive the cut. The sound, for an ALD recording, is very good.

07 - Venus In Furs (4:29)
08 - I'm Waiting For The Man (4:10)
09 - Run Run Run (4:23)

Total running time: 42m 03s

Notes:
The bulk of the songs that would become The Velvet Underground & Nico were recorded in mid-April, 1966, during a four-day stint at Scepter Studios, a decrepit recording studio in New York City. This recording session was financed by Warhol and Columbia Records' sales executive Norman Dolph, who also acted as an engineer with John Licata. Though exact total cost of the project is unknown, estimates vary from $1500 to $3000

Actual recording at Scepter was done rather quickly in about two business days (roughly 8-10 hours) while the third was spent listening to the material and the fourth was spent mixing. Soon after, Dolph sent an acetate disc of the recordings to Columbia in an attempt to interest them in distributing the album, but they declined, as did Atlantic Records and Elektra Records. Eventually, the MGM Records-owned Verve Records accepted the recordings with the help of Verve staff producer Tom Wilson, who had recently moved from a job at Columbia.

Scepter Studios acetate version
Norman Dolph's original acetate pressing of the Scepter Studios material contains several recordings that would make it onto the final album, though many are different mixes of those recordings and three are different takes entirely.

The acetate was pressed on April 25, 1966, shortly after the recording sessions. It would resurface decades later when it was bought by collector Warren Hill of Montreal, Canada in September 2002 at a flea market in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City for $0.75. Hill put the album up for auction on eBay in November. On December 8, 2006, a winning bid for $155,401 was placed, but not honored. The album was again placed for auction on eBay and was successfully sold on December 16, 2006 for $25,200.

It is important to note that ten songs were recorded during the Scepter sessions and only nine appear on the acetate cut. Dolph recalls "There She Goes Again" being the missing song (and, indeed, the version of "There She Goes Again" that appears on the final LP is attributed to the Scepter Studios session).
Though rumors have circulated concerning an eventual official release of this version of the album, this has yet to be confirmed or announced by any major record label.
However, a ripped version of the acetate began circulating the internet in January 2007. Bootleg versions of the acetate tracks have also become available on vinyl and CD

It is also the only time since 1981 that he has played "outside the wall" (He did not play it in Berlin in1990) so it is a bit of a rarity.

Review 1:
Paris Par Excellence is one of the many releases of the Led Zeppelin Paris 1969 radio broadcast. Like the other releases, this was recorded straight off of the radio. Like the Wendy and no label releases this includes the comments made by the French DJ during the broadcast. And Empress Valley also has a slight cut after “I Can’t Quit You.” This release also is higher in volume than the others. The sound quality is excellent, however, and the packaging is nice.

Review 2:
The Paris show at the Olympia was one of the most memorable concerts in Paris by a rock band, in the fall of 1969 and a huge opportunity for Zeppelin to conquer the continent on October 10, 1969. I was lucky enough to get a ticket for it and bring my camera along with me.A light show had been planned for Led Zeppelin’s first concert in France but it was quickly dismissed due to malfunctioning. Nevertheless the band agreed to go on without it.Two crew men projected spotlights on Robert and Jimmy from the rafters up above but that was it for the light show. The band did not mind the film noir lighting and eventually set the stage on fire with the bare minimum of props which included the violon bow segment and the most outstanding acoustic “Black Mountainside”.

Led Zeppelin in Paris was a barn burner of a show. It struck with the crowd that night and for years to come. Robert Plant was dressed in a black silk puffy sleeved pirate like shirt and wore some type of indian moccasins while Jimmy Page wore shiny satin velvet pants and pink tight T shirt to boot that accentuated his fragile frame and beautiful body.

Comments:
Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band hit the road with an all-star lineup in a series of "Vote for Change" concerts in "swing" states during the fall of 2004. These were technically non-partisan events, although there was a anti-war/anti-incumbent tone. Nonetheless, the overall theme was to emphasize (after the close 2000 election) the power of democracy and the importance of participating in the electoral process.

Opening acts included Bright Eyes and R.E.M.; John Fogerty came along to perform a mini-set with the E Street Band.

Regardless of one's political beliefs, these were some great shows. By E Street standards, Bruce's set was relatively short (about 100 minutes plus the Fogerty segment) but really powerful ... the first 20 minutes of this was about the best I've heard Bruce in years. Fogerty's mini-set was much more entertaining than the solo tour he undertook a few weeks later, and the addition of R.E.M. and Bright Eyes during various guest spots provided some great variety. All members clearly enjoyed this tour, and it showed in their performances.

This recording is great; it was posted to DIME in early 2005 and is much better than any other commonly available sources. I'm not sure of the lineage of the ALD and IEM sources, but they both appear to be good mixes without dropouts (or, any flaws were well-masked during the matrixing process). The audience recording was from my master, so I can say with confidence that it was recorded about halfway back on the floor with Sonic Studios mikes even with the soundboard ... I was in a "sweet spot." The end result is a really balanced, well-mixed recording with vocals and instruments all well-represented.

Bruce sat in with R.E.M. for two songs during their set, and these tracks are included at the end of track 2. I don't know if three sources were used for this portion. (I also upped the R.E.M. set, so I assume the audience portion has the same lineage as described above.)
