Led Zeppelin - Blasphemy (SBD/FLAC)

(Soundboard FLAC)

24 & 25th May 1975 (compilation)
Earls Court, London.

Soundboard, plus one track from audience source.

This is a reseed of a previously posted torrent at Dime. All files are the same as before, the MD5 files give a 2 missing file errors (I don't know why), but are OK. I did not replace them as they are OK for the Flac files. There is a new info file.

I chose the title 'Blasphemy' to represent that this is NOT for the serious Led Zeppelin collector.

It is an edit to give a complete set from the London 1975 shows from soundboard sources as far as possible, and does not include tracks from the official DVD relase. Only "Tangerine" and the first 20 seconds of "Going to California" have had to be taken from an audeince source. The audience noise has also been edited to make the concert fit on 3CDs.

There is nothing ‘definitive’ about this compilation, it is meant as an introduction to the music performed by Led Zeppelin at what may have been the peak of their live performances in 1975.

If you buy the official releases, and mix the recordings from those with this you could make a much improved version.

All tracks taken from the 25th May 1975 'When We Were Kings' release, except:
*24th May 1975 from 'The To Be a Rock and Not to Roll' release.
** audience recording, plus the first 20 seconds of 'That's The Way' from The To Be a Rock and Not to Roll' release.
+ is from the 25th May with a patch 19.18 onwards from the 24th May.

Sources lineage:
When We Were Kings, 25th May: Soundboard > silver CDs > ? > Flac > bit torrent > wav.
The To Be a Rock and Not to Roll', 24th May: Soundboard > silver CDs > ? >CDR (x ? generations) > EAC (secure mode) > wav

Compiled and tracked in Soundforge > Flac (level8, sector boundary aligned, verified)

This compilation represents a complete set from the shows Led Zeppelin performed at Earls Court, London in 1975. None of the officially released tracks are included. As far a possible tracks are taken from soundboard sources.

Other versions of this compilation could be made, this is simply one that I have made from the sources I have available, and that fits the trading rules of ‘Dime’.

Edits have been made to the talking and crown noise between the tracks to allow the compilation to fit onto 3 disks, and also to cut down on some of the longer breaks.

If you wish to get the officially released tracks from these shows then I would strongly recommend that you buy:

Notes:
This version is from the re-broadcast of the show. This version of the show is directly from my master VHS. It shows some small wear, but nothing really disturbing. A trader friend who downloaded my 2 disc PAL version of this, asked if he could do a NTSC rip of the original PAL tape, so he borrowed my tape to do it. This is the result of that. The rip as it is here is absolutely the best that can be done with the source available.

Notes:
There were worries that Ozzy wouldn't turn up having cancelled the Mannheim show two days beforehand and the Graspop headlining show from last year but he did finally arrive and put on a great show. His voice was stonger than the recent Download Black Sabbath show and way better than his last Graspop show which was so bad it was laughable. He enjoyed playing with his new toy - a foam water cannon and the set list was a good mix of Ozzy and sabbath classics. It was a blustery day and there is quite a bit of wind noise and the usual expected chatter from a festival but it is certainly worth a listen.

This is a first gen copy of the master tape which I acquired recently and which I think is an upgrade in terms of sound quality to the more commonly circulated "Beset By Creatures Of The Deep" bootleg which sounds like it comes from a higher gen tape. A fairly early performance and an interesting set. The "Beset By Creatures Of The Deep" sounds like a reprise of "Careful With That Axe, Eugene" (and "Green Is The Colour" almost always segued into that track when played live) but I have no idea why they decided to play it twice at this particular performance.

I love this recording. This is an unprocessed transfer from a DAT(4) of a 1st Gen cassette copy. I've left nothing out of this transfer. The silences at the start of each show comprise the 1st Gen hiss present on the DAT before the content starts... these things are important!

because this has never been near a bootleg CD. This funky little recording comes from a cassette that I've had in my collection for more years than I care to remember, well probably since sometime around the 1990s. It's a pretty good show with the bonus of the two blues back to back. As for the sound, that's purely subjective so that depends on where your definition of listenable lands when it comes to Hendrix audience recordings. I'd call it expansive.

EVENT BACKGROUND
The UN’s International Day of Peace is a global observance and not a public holiday. It is a day when nations around the world are invited to honor a cessation of hostilities during the day. A UN resolution established the International Day of Peace in 1981 to coincide with the opening of the UN General Assembly. The first Peace Day was celebrated in 1982 and was held on the third Tuesday of September each year until 2002, when September 21 became the permanent date for the International Day of Peace. The assembly decided in 2001 that the International Day of Peace should be annually observed on September 21 starting from 2002. By setting a fixed date for the International Day of Peace, the assembly declared that the day should be observed as a day of global ceasefire and non-violence. By creating the International Day of Peace, the UN devoted itself to worldwide peace and encouraged people to work in cooperation for this goal. Since its inception, Peace Day has marked personal and planetary progress toward peace. It has grown to include millions of people worldwide and many events are organized each year to commemorate and celebrate this day.

VIDEO BACKGROUND
This came to me through a great friend, Marco L., whom I haven't seen for a long long time (except for a very brief meet up at the last PG show in Verona, in 2010). We probably first met in the late 80's, when we were both active fanzine makers (he with Wonderous Stories, I with Paperlate), but we did get on even more friendly terms in the summer of 1995, when Secret World, the band he was playing keyboards in (which as the name implies was a Gabriel cover band), played in Bologna for a PG Tribute event I was asked to organize and which turned out to be a great success for all involved with about 800 people showing up in the middle of a July week… We met a few times afterwards: on one occasion, when I was in Rome for something else, we did go for a pizza one night and he handed me these 2 VHS tapes telling me - but here my memory could be mistaken - he had come across the guy who filmed the stuff by absolute chance... For a few years I did not know what exactly to do with them: they were NTSC and the cost of transferring them would have been steep; also, the only thing I knew was that they were filmed during the 1986 UN show, of which I already had a PAL transfer. I must say I thought it was strange that these were 2 tapes, when one would have sufficed for the barely 30 minutes set, but I simply guessed the rest would be fillers from US Tv or things like that.
