Notes:
This is an excellent soundboard from the Paul Simon's "You're The One" tour. Excellent setlist, professionally mixed recording. Not quite as vibrant as the Hollywood Bowl show I posted a few days ago, but it's still quite good; probably a 9 on a 10 scale.

It's somewhat disappointing that "Bridge Over Troubled Water" isn't in this setlist -- but I think he rotated it with "The Late Great Johnny Ace," which is a relative rarity. No artwork, sorry. Hopefully someone on this thread can either create some or post a scan.

This first solo Morrissey show was also meant as a farewell Smiths concert. The musicians backing Morrissey were ex-Smiths Mike Joyce and Andy Rourke, as well as once Smiths #5 Craig Gannon filling in as guitarist. The setlist was a mix of Morrissey tracks with Smiths tracks from 1987, so nothing that had been  performed in front of a live audience before. The Smiths song were actually  never played live since either. Admission was free to anyone wearing a Morrissey shirt, but most people turned up with Smiths shirts and were still admitted. Only half of fans who traveled to Wolverhampton made it inside the venue. Outside the queuing and organisation almost turned to chaos. The atmosphere inside was obviously very charged. There was a great deal of cheering and chanting Morrissey's name to the English football tune. Throughout the short set, many fans made it on stage, much more than for a typical Smiths concert.

Morrissey came on stage to a thunder of applause, after a long period of cheering and chanting. In the first song, "Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before", he sang "And so I drank one, or was it four?" instead of "... it became four". He actually sang that line as it had been originally written and not as it appeared on "Strangeways Here We Come". Before "Interesting Drug" which was yet unreleased and unknown to the fans, Morrissey started "This song is called..." but never finished his line. In that song as in the previous one, "Disappointed", Morrissey missed many lines because of the mayhem with the fans keeping him away from his microphone.

Just before "Suedehead", Mike Joyce teased the fans with a few notes of the drum intro to "The Queen Is Dead", but that song was not to be played. Morrissey changed a line in "Suedehead" to "Oh so many blank pages" instead of "oh som many illustrations". He also sang "I'm so very saddened, oh, I am so sickened NOW". Before "The Last Of The Famous International Playboys" Morrissey started "I'd like to say hello..." but didn't finish his line and simply introduced the next song.

Before "Death At One's Elbow" Morrissey managed to say what he had originally meant to: "I'd like to say hello to Julian and hello to Mouse.... your mother's letter arrived today, she has a good hand...". In that song Morrissey changed a line from "you'll slip on the trail of my bespattered remains" to "you'll slip on the trail of all of my entrails". After that number and its final lines "Goodbye my love, goodbye my love", Morrissey just said "goodbye" and everyone left the stage. They were called back with much insistence and performed one more song, a very rocking "Sweet And Tender Hooligan".

Duran Duran - 1994 - Demo's Thank You (STU/FLAC)

(Studio FLAC)

Info below is from Duran Duran Wiki: http://duranduran.wikia.com/wiki/With_Love_And_Thanks

With Love And Thanks is an unofficial Duran Duran compilation album, recorded between 1992 and 1995.

This is a collection of Duran Duran Thank You demos and live promotional performances.

"White Lines"
There are three versions of "White Lines" on the album, including a performance by Duran Duran on the US David Letterman Show. According to the Duran Duran Rare CD Guide site, the band were told at the last minute to cut down the song due to time constraints.

"Ball of Confusion"
The track is an uncensored version, with the lyrics "Politicians..Can You xxxxxxx believe them?"

"Perfect Day"
Track 3 is a recording very similar to the album version, but includes John Taylor singing backing vocals. The second version of "Perfect Day" and "Crystal Ship" (Acoustic) are from Simon Mayo's BBC Radio 1 breakfast show, aired in the UK. This performance on the Simon Mayo show also included an acoustic live version of "Ordinary World", which was released on the "White Lines" single CD and "Lay Lady Lay" Italian single.

"Thank You"
This is not the With Honors demo version, but a completely different recording.

"Plastic Girl"
The track is a live recording of Duran Duran's performance on the MTV Most Wanted show.

Bonus tracks:
"Dreamboy" and "Electric Barbarella" are not Thank You songs. "Dreamboy" is a Simon Le Bon solo song, recorded live at the Cannes Film Festival. The "Electric Barbarella" track 16 is a recording of a radio performance, and the Plastic Kiss Acoustic Mix is a re-edit of track 16.

Before the show, some of the ecstatic crowd mobbed the band, who apparently were bitten by mosquitoes on stage all night long!
After a few days rest, Freddie's voice is in great shape for this show.
While Spike plays the intro to 'I Want To Break Free', Freddie joking asks, "Is this where I wear the funny dress?"
On the final fanfare of the song, John Deacon plays some pretty and melodic lines on his bass.
After the 'Impromptu' they attempt about a minute of Led Zeppelin's 'Immigrant Song'.
Obviously unrehearsed (Freddie barely knows the words), they take a good enough stab at it!
After the first verse of 'Hello Mary Lou', Freddie says to one of his bandmates, "See, they're clapping on the off-beat."

This is one of the best-sounding recordings from the tour. It's a bit distant, so the audience is often prominent in the sound. 'Gypsy Eye' EQ'd their version to bring out a bit more of the top end.

This is from my master "Off the Air" tape recording and has never been shared before. Performed balance and volume adjustments as required. Converted to 16-44 for CD burning archivists. Loved the sound of this Phillips tuner. Punchy and excellent stereo separation so no EQ needed. Frequency analysis reveals the standard FM broadcast roll off including a spur at 15.734 kHz. This was a by-product of the recording equipment and is not audible.

I believe this is pre-FM source, but am not totally sure. If anyone knows, please verify. I did some research and found out that *"Roadhouse Blues" from this show was included on ETL in '82. That track has been omitted. I believe that no other songs from this show were ever commercially released.

Total time: ~ 83 min.

notes:
This copy here is at the correct speed and is combined from 3 different sources with numerous minor flaws seamlessly repaired.

The Swedish state radio company gave Lou and his new live band studio time for rehearsals and then the first show of the tour at the Concerthouse in Stockholm was recorded for FM brodcast for the radioshow "Tonkraft".
When this basic source before the final fixes was previously seeded, Sister Ray was cut by a few minutes so that the show could fit on a single CD. Sister Ray has been restored here to it's full length from an alternate reel source. I burned this with just the encore on a second disc, but the show can be split elsewhere or left as the full show on a hard disk if desired (the disc transition is seamless).
