Notes:

The most complete recording of this legendary show, - only missing the first take of "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" - comes from the remastered Alan Niven master in addition with "Whole Lotta Rosie" restored to its worthy place taken from the bootleg "Live Samurai - Vol 2" as only this version proved to be the one suited in the sound quality presented by the main source. Another bootleg offering this show, titled "London Calling" was released by Metal Sword in 2006 and is based on the original master recording as provided by Alan Niven - also lacking "Whole Lotta Rosie". This is sourced from the same master recording, only it has been remastered and mixed at some point with additional (fake) audience noise. Originally uploaded by GNR4EVER69. - Buda

Notes:
This is a beautiful collection of rehearsal playing, last put out in a fabulous Green Mountain Boys version. This is the first time, to my knowledge, that the entire Barncard Dat has been available with all 2 hours. There's a shinid for it, but I've never seen it circulated. And per Barncard's notes, included, none of these tracks have ever been used on the Crosby or any other album.

Notes:
Best show of the 1984 tour and a must-have. The only show that really departs from the cookie-cutter 1984 setlist. Terrific "A" level, definitive 1st gen quality makes this required listening for all VH fans. If you only own one 1984 show, this is hands down the one to own.

Obviously, the huge difference between this and other 1984 shows is "Summertime Blues" and "Ice Cream Man," two songs that no other circulating 1984 show has. In addition, Dave's rap is very short, and "Everybody Wants Some!!" is also markedly different from EWS in all other shows. Instead of the usual 15 minutes, it's under 9 minutes, and there's no joking around. A lot of it is instrumental Ed and Al in the mdidle section of the song. I'm virtually certain this was classic Van Halen's only stop in Quebec, and as such, they wanted to make it a special show. They knew they couldn't fuck around like they did in all the other 1984 shows. They were on their "best behavior" that night. They wanted the Quebec audience to hear a tight performance with vintage songs like "Ice Cream Man" and "Summertime Blues."

Good solid show by the band. It seemed like another song would be played, but Manson walked off stage after teasing us after the Beautiful People. It sounded like they would plat Murders are Getting Prettier Every Day, because they started with the guitar riff, but they didn't play anything else. The setlist had Irresponsible Hate Anthem listed though.

Throughout the show, Manson repeatedly refers to an incident 11 years ago where he was charged with "Having sex with a man's head."

Some notes about this tape:

I had to do a big job on this tape. That day there was an unbelievable heavy rain, so they had pa and sound problems & my tape recorder suffered the rain too, 2 or 3 times my batteries got wet and t.r. power failed. This is a pretty good audience recording overall from my master, with some problems where it is indicated...i probably forgot to mention some few other minor drops, so you know about it...this event was unbelievable...i never saw this tape circulating before......

Taper's notes: This is a great venue - a very old theater that has been nicely renovated. Acoustics were decent. The audience in GA was

awesome - high energy but polite and not chatty. Meat Is Murder was accompanied by a gruesome film featuring a behind the scenes look
at slaughterhouses. Not for the squeamish. I think he changed shirts 3 times, with the second shirt being thrown out into the pit to a very eager
audience. How Soon Is Now? featured various audience members coming up for hugs from Moz.

My Notes
Again this hasn't been on the tracker and like most of the stuff I obtain it came in a postal trade sometime ago.

I must apologise as this is one of my favourite Bonnet recordings for my own listening pleasure long before sites such as these I combined the two discs into one. Sorry about that but then the internet was something you found on Star Trek. The split would have come at track 12 which would be track 01 disc 2. I have added a MD5 because without one I couldn't share it.

So one of the best 1980 recordings an Excellent+ audience recording. Only critism and I am splitting hairs here it is a bit thin the sound, but a bit of twiddling here and there with a graphic equaliser and you can get this sounding awesome.

So sound quality for me easily 9/10 or Ex+

MANY THANKS TO THE BEATLES PRESS OFFICER TONY BARROW FOR MAKING THIS TAPE

***As The Beatles made their way to Candlestick Park,
Paul McCartney asked their press officer Tony Barrow to make a recording of the concert on audio cassette, using a hand-held recorder. The cassette lasted 30 minutes on each side, and, as Barrow didn't flip it during the show, the recording cut off during final song Long Tall Sally.

(from 1st gen audience recording)

This was recorded by a friend, with my Sony D-6 cassette deck and our Sonic Studios DSM-6P mics. It sounds great!!

This is a CD edit I made from my 1st gen cassette of the show, the master is not in my possesion. This is a music-only edit of the show, I was able to shave it down to fit onto a single CD. The only things "lost", as it were, are about 7-8 minutes of hissy silence, with some tuning noises, and muted coughs. Also missing is an intro of musicians, I cannot decipher enough
to make it worth including...I think this is really a good way to listen to this show, just the 3 large raga tracks, end to end. Truly amazing stuff, an out-of-this-world time!! Enjoy, mbp

Taper Notes:
This show was a last minute deal for me giving me little time to prepare. Unfortunately I lent out my usual mics to a friend so I was forced to use the internal mics on my Tascam DR-05 which are far less than ideal but better than nothing. My comp'd seat in the very last row of the venue didn't help either but I couldn't argue with the free price.

The IEM source was Dewey Bunnell's earfeed so his voice is naturally high in the mix. This feed was not very good since it contained mainly Dewey's voice and guitar with not much of the rest of the band coming through. I mixed both sources as best I could but given the limitations of each the final product was less than ideal but better than nothing.

Overall a good show and the highlight for me was Gerry's banter about the venue being a little overzealous on the security. His reference to the "great Air Supply riot of 2008" was classic.

MASTERING

hanwaker mastering
downsampled and dithered in korg
some EQ ( a little to get rid of the very boomy bass and a tiny touch to the high ends)in audacity
due to eliminating millions of near hand clappers and raising music vs applause there a few hard transitions from audience noise back to the music... but it doesn't affect the music

EXCELLENT Soundboard recording! This is the show that had the Faces reunion at the end for 4 songs. Unfortunately I don't know of any soundboard recording available from that reunion.Very good version of Dock Of The Bay - Rod always sounds awesome when singing old soul songs. I believe She Won't Dance With Me was actually the opening song, as it was most of the concerts from this tour. I could be wrong though. Anyways, this is one of the finest Rod shows out there - especially considering it was recorded in the 80's.

**Should be noted that there is a slight break in between tracks. Not as long as some shows I've heard. Sorry, but that is how I got the show. If anyone knows how to get rid of it, go for it!

**This one is going out to tonsofsobs and the guys at the Rod Stewart Archive for their generosity.
