encore:
08 Soul Sacrifice [tape change at 15 seconds into this track where not much of the music is missing] [17:52]

Note:
Stereo soundboard plus Sennheiser binaural mics on "dummy head" (live matrix mix). It really sounds a lot like a soundboard-only recording, except that some audience noise can be heard low in the mix in the background. Recordings of this show and the three nights that follow (Concord, Shoreline and Cal Expo) all sound fantastic. Carlos loved recordings made with the binaural mics and was into making the live tapes sound as good as possible. Highly recommended!

There is a second or two of very minor diginoise in one spot toward the end of Wings of Grace and also Somewhere In Heaven. There is one more spot that that I noticed at the beginning of the rain chant intro to Soul Sacrifice. (They are all very minor and barely noticeable.)

Also please note that Soul Sacrifice usually contains themes from John Coltrane's "A Love Supreme" plus other themes which have not been listed in the setlist.

Notes by the taper:
This is one of the very few shows that I attended for which I do not have my recording. Actually, I remember I recorded it in the middle of a wild crowd in a packed Rolling Stone, but my microphone was about to die and captured part of the show with nasty switched between channels, making it nearly unlistenable. I don´t even have the master anymore. So it was a nice surprise when I found a good version of it in the RLR archives. I have checked there is no Level 42 recording in tracker right now, which is a pity because the band was sooo hot in the mid-80´s untill the Gould bros decided to leave. After that, and although the presence of Gary Husband, the band was not the same.

17. Everything Counts [5:58]
18. See You [0:20]

Total time: 1:15:38

INFO:
This version is the most complete recording available of this concert to-date.

The right channel is louder than the left. There is some tape hiss, but that can be expected. The majority of "Somebody" has the left channel louder than the right. This tape recording isn't as clear as the soundboard remaster I shared previously

OTHER VERSIONS:
There is a pre-FM vinyl rip, a radio broadcast, and a remaster which probably was sourced from a lower generation copy of this soundboard tape. All are incomplete. All three have been shared on DIME at some point or another.

NOTES by the uploader:
This is a VG+ audience recording. On many places, the right channel was badly damaged, so I fixed it. Now you can tell there's a slight change in the sound when the fixing begins but that's all. I also had to remove a lot of gaps and litches from Disc 2. Other than these fixes, the original recording has been left untouched. The last two songs are from another audience source. Unfortuantely, it's of lesser quality, VG at best. Anyway, this is a really great show and the sound quality is really enjoyable so I'd recommand any music lover to get it.

Comments: This was the first time at this "historic" venue and we were located in section
20, just off the floor. The sound from that location was loud and clear. The crowd around us was excited and decently behaved and the recording came out well for this comfortably cool saturday evening. A few differences from the 2010 Tour as Roger played an additional acoustic version of ABITW and he did a re-start on The Thin Ice after some initial equipment issues. Enjoy the recording folks.

Nice recording. Includes the pre-album version of Portobello Belle and unpublished rairities like Real Girl, My And My Friends and Nadine.

Comment(Pyroman):
Nice bootleg.
The sound quality could have been better, but it has a lot of rare songs that make this recording really worth having, like Real Girl, Me And My Friends and the Chuck Berry cover Nadine. Also an early version of Portobello Belle.

Comment(J.V.TOL):
Recording from Barbarella's in Birmingham 1978, some very rare songs, for example an ultra rare version of Me and my friends, Real girl and Nadine. Also one of the earliest versions of Portobello belle. Complete show

a superb audience recording by my friend who graciously sent me his master transferred to cdr a few years ago. Anybody interested in Peter Murphy or Bauhaus needs to have this recording. I saw them a few days earlier at The Roxy, Hollywood but didn't have any equipment to record. This Chicago performance replicates the incredible feeling I had seeing them in person.

Notes by the uploader:
I took forever, weeks of researches to exactly configure this reel to reel tape, that i had there laying down....well, this is the mother tape of all the other tapes circulating as "1st lp outtakes". I had a dozen of tapes as "1st lp outtakes", so i checked them one by one, including the recent one circulating in different Cipollina's trees as JC master #80. Well i found out that all those versions of the Fool, are taken from this tape, and this is the only tape that have all them together ! So probably it happened that in the years somebody took pieces from this tape and mixed those versions with the other songs of the 1st lp. I'm sure of this cause the 1st lp was recorded piece by piece between late 1967 and early 1968, and they had different days and months in which they were rehearsing and recording 1 particular song, so the point is that there are whole tapes with the recording of each song, but all the tapes in circulation were assembled taking songs from a lot of different tapes. So, for example, the session of the fool for the album official release took place December 19th 1967, so the date i had on the reel to reel box make sense, even if it is not certain. Hope i gave you something to enjoy and discuss about it.....

Notes:
In preparation for their hugely anticipated headline performance at this year's Download Festival, Black Sabbath announced an intimate homecoming show at O2 Academy Birmingham. This was also a charity fund raiser for "Help For Heroes". The venue was packed with a sold out 3000 capacity crowd.

This was Black Sabbath's first performance in their hometown for 11 years — and their first concert since 2005. We had three-quarters of the legendary original lineup. Tommy Clufetos, a member of Ozzy's solo band, is filling in for Bill Ward, who is sitting out the group's reunion shows due to contractual disputes with his bandmates.

Tony looked well after his recent diagnosis with lymphoma - Ozzy proclaimed him "the Iron Man!"

The story goes like this ... royboy sweet talked his way into plugging into the soundboard with his edirol. What he said and to whom remains a mystery but the sound quality is excellent and the performance is better.

Notes:
Absolutely one of the best 1970 shows, and on this new source, besides "Subway" that it was cut in 2 parts even on John's master tape, cause there were some recordings problems that day (they had some electricity problems, you can hear that during the show, sometimes the mics & guitars's plugs make a funny noise), the sound quality is really, really good.
