**Notes included with Silver CD**
Much confusion has surrounded these recordings from March 18th, 1973 in recent years; Pink Floyd were scheduled to perform in Waterbury, Conneticut on the date in question, and thus, many of the tapes from this date were attributed to the Palace Theatre in Waterbury for that reason.

However, the band actually performed twice on the 18th; although the tickets for Pink Floyd's March 17th 1973 concert at New York's Radio City Music Hall had been printed with the March 17th date, the band didn't actually take to the stage until 1 A.M. the following morning, hence he difficulty in accurately identifying this show.

Early tape traders originally determined that the origin of these recordings was the Radio City Music Hall, but as new sources emerged with the March 18th date, and subsequently compared to the older Radio City sources, determined to all be of the same show, based upon the bands tour schedule, they were then attributed to Waterbury!

Ultimately, it is unlikey that 5+ sources could originate from one show in a small Conneticut city in 1973, yet none from the famous Radio City Music Hall in New York, and given this fact, along with other details found within the recordings themselves, we can finally clear up this confusion once and for all! We proudly present to you the silver debut of Pink Floyd's excellent 1973 performance at New York's Radio City Music Hall, in support of the "Dark Side Of The Moon" album!

The eleventh concert of the bands first North American tour for 1973 includes "When You're In" and "Obscured By Clouds" from the soundtrack of the same name. - these songs would only be performed live in 1973, and make documents such as this even more valuable. Additionally, this would be the last year "Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun" would be performed on a Pink Floyd tour, and the other long time fature "Careful With That Axe, Eugene" would soon be retired the following year to make way for newer material. Of course, the centrepiece of this collection is the complete "Dark Side of the Moon" suite, marking the first time the New York audience would experience the final, post-LP release version of the epic, which had transformed significantly since the bands last visit in May of 1972.

Without question, this is one of the most important concerts the band performed in 1973 that directly contributed to the changing fortunes of the band!

This can be viewed as a marked improvement over many previous releases, due to the multiple source tapes used. The rare inclusions of "Obscured By Clouds" and "When You're In" are in possibly the best sound quality I've heard for the live renditions of these songs. Just as a side-note, it is a well known fact the The Grateful Dead were in attendance at this concert; you can hear someone near the one of the tapers saying "The Dead just left".EDGEhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12123999740429160414noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1311314183310005795.post-42302316605704806502024-03-18T05:00:00.000+00:002024-03-18T21:30:08.453+00:00Santana - 1977-03-18 - Durham, NC (SBD/FLAC)

Welcome to the fifth chapter of JEMS' Nothing to Lose series revisiting Bruce's remarkable 1977 tour. For the full history of our obsession with this era and the back story on these "Official Audience Tapes," please refer to the notes in Vol. One found here:

http://jungleland.dnsalias.com/torrents-details.php?id=38539

Installment No. 5 brings Springsteen to New Haven, Connecticut, as the tour settles into its final shows in the northeast, six of which are still to follow. For me, this is a period of near perfection in terms of the caliber of the performances and the sense of urgency that's palpable in the recordings.

There may be only 13 songs in the set, but Bruce and the band are making every one of them count. My typical listening to material from '77 has tended to focus on the unique songs, like "Action in the Streets" and "It's My Life." But in preparing this show, I was struck by just how good the "standard" songs are. Bruce sings "Spirit in the Night" and "Thunder Road" with every bit as much conviction as he does "Don't Look Back," and we all know how special "Backstreets" is every night in '77. Fresh ears also picked out a lot of distinctive guitar work from Steve and Bruce that I felt I had never noticed before. "We tore it apart and put it together again" indeed.

New Haven is the final "official audience" source in the JEMS Archive. I consider it the best recording of the five, sounding just a bit closer, sharper and with better instrument separation than the previous four. It came to us from a different source than the first four (an insider, not a collector), so it may also be a generation to the good comparitively. But it is incomplete, joined in progress during "Spirit."

Happily, our pal CB taped the show as well and loaned us his master cassettes. The CB source was previously released by Fanatic; we did a fresh transfer for this release. CB told me he taped from the back of the arena and it sounds like it, but the recording is still clear and fills in what's missing from the better source to give us the complete New Haven show. Special thanks yet again to: M and J from JEMS for pulling out our many versions of these DATs and helping make new transfers; to CB, one of "The Original Two" who got the whole Springsteen taping hobby started; the folks on the Stone Pony message board whose thread sparked this series; and to mjk5510 who takes our bits and bobs and gets them all pretty for you.

When the '77 series returns, we'll revisit Toronto, Detroit and Toledo, all from fresh master transfers. Until then, enjoy New Haven, and better still, add your thoughts about the show and the recording in the comments.
Notes:
This is a special one for me. I made the drive down from Seattle to LA with a couple of my bandmates to attend what was one of the great rock festivals ever. Not the largest ever, but over 250,000 people attended. I'll include my ticket stub in the files.

This was an all day show starting with Bob Welch (with guests Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwod), Dave Mason, Carlos Santana, Heart, Ted Nugent, Foreigner, Aerosmith (headliners), Mahagony Rush, and Rubicon in that order. I have soundboard audio of all of them.

Long story short - we managed to make our way into the VIP section and watched most of the day while seated, drinking free beer, right in front of the stage. Meanwhile, all around us, people were packed like sardines along the fences. The first band we were able to see from this spot was Heart. We were too afraid to get up and get more beer - or even go to the bathroom, because we didn't belong there, and we thought someone might see that we didn't have backstage passes, and throw us out. There was security everywhere - at the entrance to the seats, and at every entrance to the tent where the bar was. So we stayed put.

Cal Jam 2 was filmed for ABC television and I do have that video also. Quality of the video is not perfect, but me and my friends can actually be seen in the seating area during Heart's performance. A memory that will last forever.

Heart - being a Seattle band - we knew them well, and lusted after Ann and Nancy just like everyone else. Here they are - in their prime, with the original lineup. There are previews here of songs from the "Magazine" album, which would be released the following month, and from "Dog & Butterfly" which would follow several months later.EDGEhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12123999740429160414noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1311314183310005795.post-62255449191105561582024-03-18T04:46:00.000+00:002024-03-18T21:28:36.187+00:00Aerosmith - 1978-03-18 - Ontario, CA (SBD/FLAC) Cal Jam II

(Soundboard FLAC)

Aerosmith

Ontario Motor Speedway

Ontario, California

March 18th, 1978

Source: Soundboard

01 Rats In The Cellar

02 I Wanna Know Why

03 Big Ten Inch Record

04 Walk This Way

05 Seasons Of Wither

06 Sweet Emotion

07 Lord Of The Thighs

08 Dream On

09 Chip Away The Stone

10 Lick And A Promise

11 Get The Lead Out

12 Get It Up

13 Draw The Line

14 No More No More

15 Same Old Song And Dance

16 Toys In The Attic

17 Milk Cow Blues

18 Train Kept A-Rolling

Total Running Time: [1:24:28]

EDGEhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12123999740429160414noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1311314183310005795.post-41882695558450004342024-03-18T04:44:00.000+00:002024-03-18T21:28:25.158+00:00Foreigner - 1978-03-18 - Ontario Motor Speedway, Ontario, CA (SBD/FLAC)
Kevin was an avid taper & recorded many concerts mainly in Vancouver, Victoria & Toronto. All these recordings have been sourced directly from Kevin’s master cassettes. With thanks to Mary Davie, Kevin’s Mother for allowing us access to all of Kevin’s masters. This is a joint venture between DGB, Dennis Orr, Seth Meister, Leif Henderson & John MacMillan.

Kevin was a dear friend of mine & helped me greatly when I first moved to Canada in June 1994 for which I will forever be grateful. He had a great sense of humour. He was always happy to remind me of Ray Cooper’s percussion solo that I had to endure at the end of all the Eric Clapton shows I went to in the 90s (there were many!). He did an excellent job in impersonating Mr. Cooper! Kevin had a great taste in music & shared my love of the blues. We hope that you enjoy these releases & that we can continue Kevin’s legacy for many years to come. You left this world way too soon. Rest in peace my friend.

DGB

Kevin and I had plans to post some of his shows himself. He needed the ratio boost! haha. We had begun to work on some of his shows, when we had a bit of a dust up over something silly. Sadly, we never had the chance to mend fences together. Hopefully, through this series of shows, Kevin's memory can be properly honoured and that he can continue to leave a lasting legacy with the recordings that he left behind. I also hope that when I go beyond this world that my master cassette collection that I haven't gotten to will find a similar new home with trader's and collectors and fans everywhere, too...
EDGEhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12123999740429160414noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1311314183310005795.post-59556368677129159622024-03-18T04:36:00.000+00:002024-03-18T21:27:24.788+00:00Van Halen - 1984-03-18 - Providence, RI (AUD/FLAC)
(Audience FLAC)

Civic Center

no lineage

Disc 1
01. While this has become a popular bootleg over the years, and songs have been plucked from it several times for official releases, this is the first time this source has ever seen circulation.

Broadcast and taped by me from the WLIR Tuesday Night concert series. The only information they gave that night was ‘recorded during the British tour, 1985, but thanks to the internet, I was able to establish the correct date and venue.

According to the “Passions Just Like Mine” Smiths page, all known broadcasts feature an alternate “You’ve Got Everything Now” from a different, unknown date, even though the song was in the setlist this night, and was played in the order listed...I’ll go with the site for that info...He’s seems to have his info tight...

Also according to the page, “How Soon is Now” is edited by 1 minute on all the broadcasts...though I don’t really hear it, I’ll go with the site on that as well...

Aside from the unfortunate tape flip, and the first :30 secs of the tape where the DOLBY button was pushed in, the rest of the tape is pretty flawless. Perhaps it will be just another copy you have of this popular bootleg, perhaps it will upgrade an old copy, perhaps you’ve never heard it before...whatever the case may be...
EDGEhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12123999740429160414noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1311314183310005795.post-64522806159762983232024-03-18T04:30:00.000+00:002024-03-18T21:23:46.533+00:00The Firm - 1985-03-18 - Albuquerque, NM (SBD/FLAC)
