Notes:
Here we have yet another totally unheard, uncirculated soundboard recording of Van Halen during their Diver Down tour (Hide Your Sheep tour) in 1982. This is their only performance in Toronto during the tour. There is an audience recording of this show that has circulated previously, but that one is not that great in quality, and is also missing a few songs which are present on this new tape.

Besides this tape, and the two recordings of the first and third nights in Worcester that were shared during the last four days, only two other soundboard recordings from their 1982 tour have ever circulated: a quite muffled-sounding tape source of the first Dallas show, and the audio from the Largo proshot house feed.

The first side of the 90 minute master tape runs out after the first part of Everybody Wants Some, stopping during the start of Dave's banter, but is quickly flipped and captures most of Dave's storytime that followed. On the second side, the tape was deliberately stopped again during Dave's acoustic guitar and singing bit, so we are missing Ice Cream Man. The tape was likely stopped right here to be able to capture more of the end of the show. Ice Cream Man was seemingly the least appreciated song in the set, considering it is also missing on the two Worcester tapes (also missing on the old Dallas soundboard, interestingly enough). Luckily it's the only song missing on this tape, making it the most compete show out of those recently shared. In comparison with the two Worcester tapes, the tape here luckily features the Intruder prelude to Pretty Woman. While this tape nearly captures the full ending of the concert, the reprise of You Really Got Me is cut short, only being about 25 seconds long.

This is essentially the raw transfer, since I overall prefer doing as little editing as possible. Besides, I am not the right person to be doing any sort of worthwhile mastering work. The manual azimuth adjustment was done by briefly listening to the tape playing into a mono feed, with stereo headphones.

Enjoy the music and be grateful we are able hear these special recordings. If you have uncirculated tapes, please consider sharing them before they end up forever lost to time.
