QUALITY:

Excellent Mono Soundboard (a few patches from good audience source here and there to make it a complete show)

PERFORMANCE:

Together with a few other 1981 shows; this is one of my favourites from that tour.

COMMENTS:

There are 4 things about this recording that makes it a "must have" - even if one doesn't feel the need to collect *that many* 1981 shows

1. It's a GREAT performance, all the way

2. It's one of the best *newly circulating 1981 mono recordings*....in other words, the sound is excellent

3. Ian Stewart is HIGH in the mix, and so is Keith's backing vocals. Those 2 factors are missing on most 1981 recordings, including the official "Still Life". Keith did some real cool background vocals in 1981/1982....and it would be last tour he ever did so. When it comes to Ian Stewart's piano-playing....it's of course a REAL treat to listen to - makes the songs swinging twice as much

4. "Down The Road Apiece" ! One of the most cooking numbers Rolling Stones ever did; and especially this exact version

(5. Tina Turner is a guest artist on "Honky Tonk Women". Unfortunately she's not very audiable. Must be something wrong with her microphone)

This East Rutherford recording was first released on "Jersey Devil" (EVCD).

"Under MY Thumb" was released on the official "Still Life" (after overdubbing)
