notes by the trader
I taped this show when I was 17 years old living in Wayne's World, or about 40 miles from Chicago. The tape has a few problems with some drop-outs, and a few seconds of signal noise. Wind chill has the most problems. But all in all it is quite listenable. I have downloaded shows that are FM but still sound like garbage. I wouldnt say this is one of them. Its a very energetic show, with the same setlist as the show in Boston that is here, with the exception of Finger's Lullaby, which is not on this tape.

Cut after track 2, track 3 fades in. Track 9 fades out in the middle and fades in again. Short cut before end of track 10 due to tape flip.
Track 15 fades out and in again before end of track. There is some minor background noise obviously from the broadcast.

running time 77:47

Nice document of the band in a great sound. Bob Geldof is talking a lot between the songs and the audience seems to enjoy the show. The Boomtown Rats were the headliners of this festival and accord. to the DJ's the concert ended very late, so that it was also a surprise for them that the band played a second encore.

In 2011, U.K. TV channel BBC4 started rolling back time by 35 years and started
re-broadcasting the UK TV weekly music show “Top Of The Pops”. These shows were
re-broadcast in it’s full entirety with the presenters introducing the acts of the time. BBC4 (a digital channel) started repeating shows starting in 1976.
(Some bloody dreadful acts, so thank you PUNK music)

Unfortunately by the summer of the 1977 broadcasts (and, after the court allegation’s with under age sex with girls by the TOTP presenters Jimmy Saville and also another presenter Dave Lee Travis only a few months later) BBC4 did not re-broadcast those episodes with those presenters.
