Billy Joel - 1990-05-26 - London, UK (FM/FLAC)

(FM broadcast FLAC)

Billy Joel
5/26/1990
Wembley Stadium
London, England

SRC: FM > ? > likely bootleg CD gen > DAT (48 khz)
Lineage: Sony DTC-790 > Hucht Copyprocessor MKII > Tascam HD-P2 > WAV > resampled to 44.1 khz in SoX (steep, very high quality, minimum phase, dithering (shibata filter)) > FLAC

CD1
01 - Orchestral intro/Stormfront
02 - Allentown
03 - Prelude/Angry Young Man
04 - Scenes From An Italian Restaurant
05 - The Downeaster Alexa >
06 - Goodnight Saigon
07 - I Go To Extremes
08 - Pressure
09 - Leningrad
10 - My Life

CD2
01 - An Innocent Man
02 - Shameless
03 - We Didn't Start The Fire
04 - Shout
05 - Uptown Girl
06 - It's Still Rock 'N' Roll To Me
07 - You May Be Right
08 - Only The Good Die Young

Encores:
09 - A Matter Of Trust >
10 - Big Shot
11 - That's Not Her Style
12 - Piano Man

Quality and source notes: You can hear a very obvious crossfade between Leningrad and My Life.  That and redundant material between Shameless and We Didn't Start the Fire, with fades, indicates this is likely from bootleg CDs.  Like most of Dan Haugh's DATs, the quality is excellent but the documentation somewhat lacking.

Editing note: Redundant, overlapping material between Shameless and We Didn't Start the Fire deleted.  Approximately two minutes of crowd noise before encores deleted and smoothed out with crossfades.

Brian Eno - Arena - Another Green World (DVDfull pro-shot)

(DVDfull pro-shot)

Title: Arena Documentary "Brian Eno - Another Green World"
Broadcast: BBC4, Astra @ 28E, 22nd January 2010

Video Source: DVB-S Transport Stream
Lineage: TM9100 > Ethernet > ProjectX > TMPGEnc MPEG Editor (M2V +MP2) > IFOEdit
Transfer Rate: VBR ~3.6Mbps
Format 720x576i, 25fps, PAL

Audio : MPEG1, Layer 2, 48kHz, 256kbps
Aspect Ratio: 16:9
Author: kosher
Menu: No
Chapters: Yes, random, 5 minute intervals
Number of discs: 1
Disc Type: DVD5

TRT: 0hr 59min 07sec

Notes:
It should first be noted that the GOP size of this BBC broadcast is not strictly DVD compliant. So as to avoid any re-encoding, it was authored using IFOEdit which will often cause hiccups for Mac owners using Toast. If in doubt, test with a rewriteable. An interesting collection of Eno's thoughts with images of him at work in his studio and talking with colleagues.

01 - Out On The Tiles / Moby Dick
02 - Guitar Solo

05 - Rock and Roll
06 - Trampled Under Foot
07 - Bonus Track - interview with Plant and Bonham on Earth Radio in 1976 to promote Presence (from the "Drum and Bass" edition)

Notes:
2 versions of this show are circulating. The first one, "Dragon Snake" probably comes from a raw transfert of a (x-generation ?) cassette. The second one, "Drums & Bass Show", is obviously remastered from the same source. Typicaly the kind of brutal remaster i can't stand : harsh equalisation removing all medium frequency, incredible noise reduction untill all hiss (and a lot of music) is definitively removed, compression to death untill all dynamics is reduced to zero. The resulting music sounds very unnatural to my ears, but it's of course a personal opinion.

For this, all tracks and sources were mixed by myself from my own collection, using Sony Sound Forge 10 with accurate pich adjustment and normalisation.

Converted from WAV to Flac (level 3) with Fairstars ripper.

I have used three sources for this - notably my master cassette recording, which saw A Song For Europe and Do The Strand broadcast for (I believe) the first time. The cassette was ripped to CD using a Philips DCC730 which offers automatic head alignment, so the quality is excellent.

Collectors Review has this to say about this disc...

Led Zeppelin - Coda Advanced Tapes (Boogie Mama)
14 May 2011, gsparaco @ 11:31 am

(68:30): Sugar Mama, Poor Tom, Walter’s Walk (instrumental), Ozone Baby, Walter’s Walk, Ozone Baby, Night Flight, Darlene, Bonzo’s Montreux, Wearing And Tearing. John Bonham isolated drum tracks: unreleased, Carouselambra, Ozone Baby (2x), All My Love, Wearing And Tearing, drum segments, Fool In The Rain

Coda Advanced Tapes is the new release on Boogie Mama featuring outtakes associated with the final Led Zeppelin album Coda, released in 1982. Released as a contractual obligation after John Bonham’s death, the songs ranged over their entire eleven year history together.
Boogie Mama essentially combine halfs of two old Empress Valley releases. The first half of the disc has ”tape 1″ from The Lost Sessions Vol. 8 (EVSD 362) from “Sugar Mama” up to “Wearing And Tearing.” The second half of the disc has the John Bonham isolated drum tracks which surfaced in 2004 and were released on disc one of The Lost Sessions Vol. 4 (EVSD 308-309).

The first track is an outtake considered for inclusion in the collection, but was ultimately rejected. “Sugar Mama” dates from the busy summer of 1969 and exists in very good sound quality. It is an embarrassing slice of late sixties pop music. It’s perfectly understandable why the band refused to include it on the album, even though it would have made more sense to include it instead of ”I Can’t Quit You,” which was already previously release. “Sugar Mama” is an interesting curiosity and nothing more than that.

“Poor Tom” comes from the 1970 sessions for Led Zeppelin III and is one of the strongest tracks on the record. This take is purely instrumental and has a very long drum introduction, stretching several measures longer than the final edited version.

The two versions of “Walter’s Walk” are really the same one but with different edits. It was recorded in the spring of 1972 during the Houses Of The Holy sessions and it’s doubtful it ever was meant for release. The first take is the raw recording featuring Page, Jones and Bonham bashing out the rhythm and faint hints of melody, exactly how it was employed that summer on the US tour when it was included in the long “Dazed And Confused” improvisations.
The second “Walter’s Walk” contains the 1982 Robert Plant vocals and Page guitar overdubs. It sounds almost identical to the Coda version.

“Night Flight” was recorded in 1971 during the sessions for the fourth album and was released several years afterwards on Physical Graffiti. This track is identical to the final version except it has faint backing vocals.

“Bonzo’s Montreux,” recorded in September 1976 sounds very much the same as does “Darlene,” recorded in Stockholm in 1978. The final track is “Wearing And Tearing,” another Coda song from the In Through The Outdoorsessions. It is the same as used on the LP except it has a John Bonham count-in.

The rest of the disc contains Bonahm drumming along to the tunes from In Through The Outdoor and Coda. There was some comment at the time about the tape’s veracity, but that’s largely irrelevant. The drummer both drums and sounds like John Bonham (he’s audible at some points, grunting and shouts “fookin’ ‘ell” before “Fool In The Rain”). If it where a forgery, it’s a damn fine one! It’s a brilliant insight into a brilliant drummer and makes me wish they had released the official album with this good quality. The songs sound fresh and exciting.
Coda Advanced Tapes is an excellent release on Boogie Mama. The label utilize a cardboard digipack with a photo of Bonham on the front cover playing the drums with a joyful look on his face. These tapes are essential for the collection, and this is an affordable way to pick these up.

Taken from the web:
Before this release, several other bootleg DVDs had compiled 1960s Who footage, with varying degrees of success. It's difficult, however, to imagine a better, more comprehensive one than this two-DVD collection, which assembles almost four hours of live, mimed, promo, interview, and documentary clips from various sources. The image and sound quality are usually as good as, or better than, what's seen or heard on those previous compilations, and most of clips appear in the most complete form known to exist. There are a wealth of riches here, from relatively common (at least to the people who collect this sort of thing) items such as their 1965 Ready Steady Go and Richmond Jazz Festival appearances to some little-seen sequences such as their mimed June 1966 appearance on the Swedish Popside show; a live July 1966 London college gig, including a not-too-audible version of "C.C. Rider"; the Monterey Pop film outtake "Pictures of Lily"; live and interview footage from Helsinki, Finland, in May 1967; and promotional films for Tommy, linked by a few interview segments in which Pete Townshend explains the songs. There's even the U.S. promo film for "Substitute," in which they mimed the amended lyrics (omitting the reference to a black father) in the American 45 version. It doesn't gather every last scrap of 1960s Who footage: there's nothing from their Woodstock appearance, and their famous violent performance of "My Generation" on The Smothers Brothers in 1967 is missing the end bit where Townshend smashes Tommy Smothers' guitar. Some of the portions are obviously lifted from sources that are easily accessible via commercial releases such as The Kids Are Alright, Monterey Pop, and The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus, and no doubt some of the clips could have been presented in better condition if this was an authorized production. The likelihood of such a thorough authorized compilation seems distant, however, leaving the gap for bootlegs such as this to exploit. Despite those very minor shortcomings, it's an amazing document, and totals up to the most convincing evidence ever assembled as to the Who's mesmerizing power as a visual performance act.

This is Volume 2 of the Frontiers Rock Festival 2014 trilogy. Apart from the bands that have already appeared in Volume 1 (Night Ranger, Winger, Pretty Maids & Stryper) we also have W.E.T. (the Work of Art, Eclipse and Talisman collaboration with Soto on lead vocals), Snakecharmer (ex Whitesnake members Micky Moody and Neil Murray along with Heartland's singer Chris Ousey), John Waite (the singer of the Babys, Bad English & successful solo artist) and Tesla the American sensation that stormed the rock scene back in the 80s/90s. If you've snatched Volume 1, then you know what to expect. It's all good, audio, video, atmosphere, the setlist, the performances, once again: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

NOTES:
This is the final chapter of the Frontiers Rock Festival 2014 trilogy. The only bands that make their first appearance in Vol.3 are Hardline (the Gioeli led band with Josh Ramos on guitar) and Dalton, the swedish melodic band of the 80s, performing their biggest hit (written by none other than Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora and Desmond Child). Coming back for Vol.3 are Night Ranger, Winger, John Waite, Pretty Maids and Stryper. Night Ranger perform two Damn Yankees songs, while John Waite brings back to life some of his classic tunes (one of them originally by the Babys and one by Bad English). If you have Volumes 1 and 2 then you know what to expect.
