OK folks, here is an uncirculated DVD of the Moody Blues from the BBC "Colour Me Pop" prog. from 1968. As far as I know, this has only ever been shown the once and is now liberated thanks to a fellow collector. The BBC actually aired over 30 of these programmes, but alas all but five have been wiped from the archives.More info here

Now as to the quality. This DVD transfer has black bars at the top and sides of the screen (this is how I received the basic files) and all I have done is added chapters/ menus. The picture quality is very good, although there is slight artifacting towards the end, - I understand this is due to the age of the master reel, All things said, this is a wonderful document of the Moodies at that time.

Kiss

The show later that evening heard on this tape was pretty riveting, as per the standard for early Kiss. This is the complete show.

Thanks to pjcksr for lending me his master tape to transfer !

09 - Let Me Go, Rock 'n' Roll

This is the second warmup night of the Hotter Than Hell tour, a bit over a month before the album came out. The band played two shows on this day, and it's uncertain which show it is. While I'm not a big Kiss guy myself, the archivist and historian in me very much appreciates what we have here - it's a pretty decent sounding audience tape from their early years, and this date carries much historical significance. This night actually saw the final performance of any kind at this venue before it closed (the last burlesque theatre in Toronto), as mentioned in an April 1976 Cheap Thrills magazine article, which I've included here (thanks to BCWolf for the scans). I've also included photos and screenshots from an interview the band did earlier in the day on a City TV show called "Boogie" (the footage remains uncirculated and may even be lost). Another part of Kiss history is that the band met Bob Ezrin (who produced the Destroyer album) for the first time at the City TV building at Queen and John Sts, and it's almost certain that the meeting took place during this visit.

Notes:
Here we have a totally unheard, uncirculated soundboard recording, capturing the Van Halen concert in Daly City (San Francisco area) during their Diver Down tour (Hide Your Sheep tour) in 1982. This is the first of two consecutive nights Van Halen played at the Cow Palace in 1982. It's worth noting that an audience recording of this show does also exist in circulation.

Despite a newspaper review claiming they played Atomic Punk at this show, unfortunately that was not the case. Old newspaper reviews are known for occasional glaring errors, which is proven to be the case here, since this soundboard recording, as well the audience recording of the entire show, both only show evidence that it was the same standard 1982 setlist.

As usual, Roy paused the tape during the break where Dave would give an extended talk to the crowd prior to Jamie's Cryin'. The first side of the 90 minute master tape runs out only about 29 seconds into Everybody Wants Some, while the second side starts right near the beginning of Dave's storytime interlude. Roy pauses the tape after Somebody Get Me A Doctor, so does not capture Dave's acoustic solo or Ice Cream Man. The recording starts again right at the start of Intruder. The tape is paused again during both encore breaks, although the pause before Bottoms Up is only very brief and captures most of the downtime. The tape runs out only about 38 seconds into You Really Got Me, so does not capture Happy Trails or the reprise of You Really Got Me.

Huge thanks to those who significantly helped with the absurd pricetag that was required to liberate this VH collection, most of which would've been impossible to save otherwise.

Enjoy the music and be grateful we are able hear these special recordings. If you have uncirculated tapes, please consider sharing them before they end up forever lost to time.

Rainbow - 1983-09-14 - Cardiff, UK (FM/FLAC)

(FM broadcast FLAC)

Venue: St. David's Hall
CD Title: Captured Live Revised
Promoted Album: Bent Out Of Shape

For a long time I had the vinyl version entitled "Captured Live" by RKO Networks well shelved.
I always liked the sound tho some points I found quite annoying:
1) the running order of the songs is incorrect
2) Fire Dance is omitted
3) somekind of audience noise sequences (loop) was constantly filled in inbetween some tracks

However I tried to put all tracks in the correct running order.
I wished I still had the audience tapes from both concerts in Cardiff with me -
they were of really good sound quality and as an extra both covered the entire shows.
