DVD 2:
Pre-show, Murder Incorporated (1), Cadillac Ranch, Two Hearts, back stage, Murder Incorporated (2), Murder Incorporated (Black & White), Badlands, Ramrod, Thunder Road, Backstreets, Little Latin Lupe Loop, after-show. Sony Studios, NYC - April 5th, 1995: Murder Incorporated, This Hard Land, Secret Garden, Streets Of Philadelphia, Two Hearts, Thunder Road.

When Bruce Springsteen agreed to reunite with the E Street band for the first time in many years to record additional songs for the Greatest Hits collection, director Ernie Fritz captured it for posterity and released a 90 minute documentary called Blood Brothers: Bruce Springsteen And The E Street Band. Behind The Blood Brothers, this new 2DVD release on the Blood Brothers label (produced by the TMR people) collects all of the outtakes surrounding the band's filming of the "Murder Incorporated" video at Tramps and also included the complete set at Sony Studios taped for "Late Night With David Letterman". The quality of the sound and video is outstanding. Fritz show the documentary in a slightly grainy look and this is the same here. The sound is in excellent stereo. There are some parts during the concert footage at Tramps where the sound speeds up sounding like someone hit the fast forward button on the tape deck. They don't last too long but is there.

The quality of the Sony Studio show is excellent all around. The label claims it from the master and could well be. It is interesting to watch the band as they work out the song, talk backstage with John Landau and Johnathan Demme, and generally goof around in high spirits. At some points the camera crew become too intrusive like when they walk in while Bruce is changing for the set. There is an abrupt edit and we're back again with him fully clothed. We can eavesdrop on a conversation about the length of the set and Demme addressing the invited audience, asking them to be patient since they'll play "Murder Incorporated" several times. Several shots reveal just how full the stage is with the band an several cameramen cluttering up the view. The part I found very enjoyable is the Sony Studio footage. The audio has been released as Sony Studios, April 5th, 1995 on E.ST. Records (ES-27/28) and in upgraded quality as Sony Studios on Crystal Cat (CC 431/432). This looks like it's from the master reels and is complete. "Streets Of Philadelphia" is very moving and is one of the highlights. This release is being touted as the first important title for 2006. I'm sure that Bruce Springsteen fans will really enjoy this and make this essential. (GS)

medley:
7. mean town blues [a small cut in the first minute, almost unnoticeable; with slide guitar jam]
8. walking blues
9. mean town blues [conclusion]

source: excellent soundboard recording for this vintage (of course it does not match nowadays standard), with minor flaws on the second half of track 4 and on the first half of track 5.

This recording is mostly known only as on the tile and it is the same presented on the bootleg CD "White Lightning". On the bootleg cover is stated that the venue was Aragon Ballroom and the date is September 25, but I'm not sure. The sound on the bootleg is too much compressed & edited to hide the hiss (indeed from a high generation tape copy), not to forgetting it has many cuts - it's only 54 minutes long. The sound quality of this torrent is far superior, from a much lower generation tape. From now on, your copy of "White Lightning" becomes useless.

This is a reseed of Return to Forever in Stockholm 1972 recorded about a month before they waxed the "Light As A Feather" lp. The band is without vocalist Flora Purim but includes "Noon Song" not released with this lineup, and a great improv intro to "Matrix". The show originates from a FM Broadcast and the sound is so nice as The Tooleman performed his magic. My introduction to (and favorite era of) Return to Forever, I could listen to these guys play all day! Many thanks to the original recordist and seeders who have kept this rare one around for decades, and as always your comments are appreciated!

Notes by the uploader:
I remain uncertain of the date for this set. The date as I recieved it was April 1973. Track 1, the MC pronounces: "Okaaaaay. Direct from a return engagement at Mrs. Hull's Boarding House, here they are, Little Feat". In FeatBase there are no entries for San Francisco or The Boarding House in 1973, and particularly not the night before this date which is occupied by a date at another venue. Featbase lists the following dates for Richard's in Atlanta: Sep, 17-20, 1973 and Aug. 22-24, 1974, and only one date for the Boarding House in San Francisco: 6/1/1976. However, this set matches perfectly that given for Torrent #139289, and is the only one of the dates for which a soundboard recording is known to exist.

The tape is a cassette (Dolby-C) safety copy of a the master reel. I was informed that the reel was no longer playable so this is probably as good as it gets.

Brilliant sound recording...Johnny's rants are hilarious. A true testament of a band that had their shit together even though the world around them thought they were just loud-mouthed yobs. Sounds like there's a riot around the prison, but the crowd are thoroughly enjoying seeing the Pistol's live.

Notes:
A very unique Who show which starts as strong as the previous night's show. Things took a bad turn though when Pete sliced open his palm on his guitar strings while doing windmills at the end of Who Are You. He left the stage at the end of the song bleeding profusely and headed to the backstage area where 'a good ice-hockey man' sewed up his hand. 'I didn't feel a thing' no doubt due to the self medication he'd been working on. Meanwhile on stage, Roger initially said they'd take a break but instead stayed onstage to prove how lost they would be without Pete. After a jam which featured 2 drum solos and Roger on Pete's guitar (we're use to seeing Roger play guitar now, but in 1979 it just wasn't done!) Roger decided to lead the audience in a My Generation sing-along. He followed this doing the same with Magic Bus until Pete came back onstage to rejoin the action part way through. The improvisations during end of the main set and the encores reached a new extreme with Roger pulling in 'Please Don't Touch' and taking a stab at 'Sweets For My Sweet' before Pete would take over for a great version of 'Pretty Vacant' leading into 'Cat's in the Cupboard' and later in the encore the second appearance of 'Dance It Away'. This was the longest Who show until the 1989 tour.

Notes from Chris Mrachek :
This soundboard recording is far from flawless but is way better now! I spent the better part of two days editing and then mastering this to get this to what it is. The edits were so numerous that i won't even begin to go into all that. The original FLAC files were merged back into a continuous file set of the show prior to editing & mastering. Some of the more interesting edits that were fixed (as best i could) was the first 36 minutes of the show the channels were inverted - which changed during the No Woman No Cry. Also the No Woman No Cry suffered from severe tape issues (again too numerous to go into) which were drastically improved although still far from perfect. I used some EQ'ing, a couple awesome WavelabPro plug-ins, fixing balance (L to R) issues, light limiting in spots, proper fades (where applicable), many level adjustments as well as a parallel compression version blended with the raw "mastered" file to accentuate the best parts of the mix. I decided NOT to use any noise filters as i don't like the frequencies that are inadvertantly removed through these processes and imo remove some valuable audio information. I also chose to keep the small 2nd part of Kinky Reggae that was cut here (with only minor fade edits) for the sake of completeness. This version would imo have to be the definitive version of this great show! I did create some PDF CD covers for those of you still inclined and apoligize for not providing photographers credit as I have no idea who took these photos or where they originated from. The photos are live shots from this concert in Providence, Rhode Island. Without a doubt some incredibly CRUCIAL roots reggae here! Enjoy & One Love - Chris

Show comments:
Don't see a whole lot of Agent Provacateur tour audience recordings and i only have a few and this one is by far the best. Play It Loud! I was fortunate to see this tour a little over a month later in San Diego and actually got to meet them (except Lou who was not feeling well) at the meet and greet and all of them were very cool, i still have my autographed LP of Agent Provacateur.

During I Will Follow, U2's own concert lighting fails and much of the show is played with the house lights on.

Comments:
Pretty good audience recording from 17th row left-hand side from Eric Clapton's brief "Crossroads" North American tour in 1988. This is best-known for featuring Mark Knopfler on rhythm guitar (as well as, of course, vocals on one song during the encore). Setlist-wise, nothing terribly adventurous except that I believe this show contained the last (or at least, one of the last) performances of the "Badge"/"Let It Rain" medley which he'd done every night through the '85-'87 tours.

The recording is fairly well-balanced -- I remember it being REALLY loud -- although unfortunately the vocals are low in the mix (probably a function of being really far to the left -- the vocals must have been concentrated toward the center sections). There are some talkers around us. There are a couple of very small cuts due to tape flips and 30 seconds of "Lay Down Sally" are a little muffled (an usher came in wanting to see our ticket stubs, so my friend ducked the mike down for a moment). Otherwise, it's a good recording that has more "talkers" than I'd like but who are not overly distracting. I'd give it a 7-8 (on a 10-scale) for the era.
