'Yesterday a rather uncomortable thing happened for everybody, and a great loss came about for the whole of the music world. Well we'd like to think of you as well as us are very sorry that, that, uh, Jimi Hendrix is dead. No, seriously. I spoke to a close friend of his about half an hour ago; he said that probably he would have preferred everybody to just get on and really have a good time, rather than talk about it.' Robert Plant ~ before 'That's the Way'

This is NOT the well known Musikladen Extra performance of January, 21st 1978 !!! This is the 2nd time Blondie got invited to Musikladen to promote their new album "Parallel Lines" on September 19th, 1978. Besides the different setlist, she also wears baggy shorts and a white shirt instead of the camouflage outfit she wore on the 1st appearance.

To my knowledge this appearance has only been transmitted twice. The original broadcast of 42 mins in 1978, and a 28 mins shorter version broadcasted by VH-1 For the 28 mins version i have to thank FUNHOUSES who gave me a copy 11 years ago!

Having both these footages i decided to compile it to the best quality i own The original broadcast suffered from dropouts and minor tape speed problems. As the original footage contained 4 more songs, i cutted these out and pasted them into the VH-1 footage. Also the beginning and 50 seconds of the end on the VH-1 footage was missing. After 4 hours of authoring i was pleased with the result

Brucebase:
Radio broadcast and soundboard tapes - Probably one of the best all time concert recordings, this version from the Soundboard. Great version of Because The Night & Fire, and also includes what many consider to be the best versions of Racing In The Street and the best band Thunder Road ever! - Essential. Also broadcast live on the radio, and video footage is available. A short live excerpt from this show (Bruce’s band introduction during “Rosalita”) was officially - and exclusively - released on a promotion-only 7” flexidisc issued to subscribers of Austrian pop magazine “Rennbahn Express” in June 1981. Thanks to Lost in the Flood for that info. Following the show, Felipe Luciano of WBCN TV interviews Bruce for the News Centre Four TV show. Released on CD "Piece De Resistance" (GDR) & "Southside Bruce And The E Street Jukes" (SEA) and most recently as "Passaic Night" (CC) Both the soundcheck and concert now circulate on a average to poor quality DVD although a recently enhanced 2DVD version has been released which is worth getting. A 9-minute TV report by New York’s "Channel 4 News" including partial, pro-shot colour footage of three songs from this show ("Badlands", "Spirit In The Night" and "Born To Run") and a short interview also conducted backstage at the Capitol Theatre is circulating on fan-made DVD’s. A full copy of the programme can be downloaded HERE. (right click...save as )(6mb) Thanks Peter.

The 1/8" stereo mic plug got loose a few times during the show and we lost one channel. I repaired this the best I could with Cool Edit Pro by copying the good channel to the bad - so the recording goes to mono sometimes.

Notes:
7th show, 5th city since start of 87 MLOR tour. Only 4 more Echoes were played after this one so that is why I am seeding this, I am aware there is not a lot of demand for 87 Floyd but it’s a good listen anyway.

REMASTER INFOS:
I took the time to improve this one by:
- raising the overall volume
- adjusting the speed as this was running too slow
- setting songs intros at the beginning of each track
Now it sounds a lot better to my ears. This is a nice soundboard from the first leg of the AMLOR tour which deserved
a bit of cleaning. A pity this is just the first part of the show.

05. Seeing Things (6:24)
06. Sister Luck (5:46)
07. Hard To Handle (3:39)
08. She Talks To Angels (6:24)
09. Jealous Again (5:42)
10. DJ outro (1:30)

Total running time: 44 minutes and 31 seconds.

Taken from the Dutch KRO "Op Slag Van Maandag" FM radio broadcast, October 20, 1991.

Source and lineage (taped and transferred by Magnix): FM > Tape > WAV > FLAC level 8.

Used software: CDWave v1.94.5 > Cool Edit Pro 2.0 > CDWave v1.94.5 > FLAC v1.1.2 as build in Traders Little Helper v1.1.1 (build 90).

Another 'tape' from the Magnix Live Archive.

Previously, on November 5, 2010 a transfer of a 2nd generation tape of this broadcast was shared on Dime (it was on the tracker for 868 days and was snatched 274 times during that time).

Also, the exact same tracks have been rebroadcast on October 19, 2007 (they were/are allowed to broadcast 'old' material only) on the Dutch KRO "Legendarisch Live" FM radioshow. I have recorded that broadcast as well, straight from FM cable to WAV. However, the first track of that recording, "Twice As Hard" had a short (16-17 seconds) cut halfway the song, because I accidently switched of the radio while taping to my harddisk (how stupid one can be sometimes). I thought I could use the 1991 tape to add the missing piece, but the difference in sound between the two sources was quite noticable (both are excellent, but there's some sort of difference in the 'colour' of the recording, if you know what I mean). Since most of these "Legendarisch Live" broadcasts are available on demand as well, I have used the 96kbps WMA-file to add the missing piece. Also note that the 2007 broadcast has quite some extra inbetween song banter and crowd noise ...

All that said, presented here is a tramsfer of a 1st generation tape from the original FM broadcast from 1991 in excellent quality!

Disclaimer.
Please note that this is a real FM capture, no cable, but straight from the airwaves. Also, this comes from a tape that was 16 years old at the time of transferring (October 2007). This means that some FM and/or tape anomalies or degeneration may be present. Most has been fixed to the best of my abilities and most of this stuff is of very good quality.

comments (OEB):
Audience recording from London 1991.
Interesting concert.
fairly good sound.
very nice versions of Tunnel of Love and,
"Fade To Black", a song that was very rarely played. This live version is very nice!

omments (knopflerlive):
EXCELLENT SHOW! Wonderful performances, guitarplaying and mood...!
Almost every track has that "power" and great solos by Mark Knopfler.
Especially good are Heavy Fuel, Planet of the New Orleans, Sultans of Swing and,
Fade To Black - a very rare.
Also nice to hear different version of Your Latest Trick with great pedal-steel guitar intro by Paul Franklin (instead of bongo-and-sax-intro).
Also beautiful and powerful Tunnel of Love and Money For Nothing.
This one of the best shows from 1991/1992 On Every Street tour.

Comments (money for nothing):
From the bootleg "Sold Out In Every Street", this recording sounds excellent ; and musically it's perfect.
'Romeo And Juliet' and 'Sultans Of Swing' are the best versions i've heard from this tour so far.
Rare version of 'Fade To Black'.

Note:
There is some audible distortion at the start of Come Talk To Me due to overloaded vocal mics. This gets better starting at around 3:30 into the track, and the mix improves even more shortly after that. In the half of Solsbury Hill a group of people forces Peter to stay! Peter with calm voice says to the crowd: "As you can act in this way? The entire thing that we are making this evening regards the respect of the others" Shortly afterwards music leaves again.
