Very nice and almost complete concert from 1985. Available on two CD-R's.

A great sounding show from the "Brothers in Arms" tour.
The performance is excellent!!!!!,
with great versions of Mark plays"Stop in the Name of Love" and "Ghost Riders in the Sky"... during "tunnel of love''
This is one of the best Dire Straits shows available from this tour, and a more complete version

Comments:
Solid performance by veteran rocker Bob Seger in the Chicago stop of his current tour. I had never seen him before, and I must say that I was impressed with his showmanship and the quality of his vocals. Although he certainly *looked* his 68 years of age, his voice sounded exactly like he did in his late 1970s/early 1980s heyday.

The setlist was a hit factory, with virtually everything drawn from the early 1970s with a sprinkling of his '80s hits and a handful of current tunes. He introduced "Like a Rock," for audience members who were less than 26 years old, as a song he hadn't performed live during their lifetimes; I'm not sure if this was a tour debut, but it sounded great and inspired me to go out and buy a Chevy truck. A highlight, for me, was the cover of Wilco & Billy Bragg's "California Stars" -- though interestingly enough, he didn't seem to be aware that a local band was involved in the recording (he alluded to the fact that the lyrics were written by Woody Guthrie, but didn't reference Wilco at all). He does a credible version of the song, though I prefer the "original" version by Wilco.

In terms of sound quality, I was a little too close to the stage to catch the full effect of the overhead PA, and needed to improve upon the high and low ends using Audio Cleaning Lab. Overall, this is a very clear recording but lacking "punch"; I was fortunate in that there wasn't any crowd interference close to my mics, but there were a couple guys nearby chatting throughout the show that can be heard in the background at quieter points of the show. Overall, this is a very listenable, enjoyable recording, but I'm sure there will be better documents that surface eventually from this tour.

Download if you're even a casual fan who's curious about the current tour, and don't forget to buy his studio and live releases.

There are no fades on this file set, so the CD breaks (for those who still burn to CD) are merely a suggestion - you can split discs wherever you want.

Review
This CD is from Twilight Music (undated) with a catalogue number of TMCD 005. Total running time is given as 67:57. The sources are a variety of good quality vinyl and indifferent tape from TV, video and audience bootlegs. There is the usual amount of bootlegger's hyperbole in the track notes. The CD is worth buying for tracks 1, 11 and 13. Because of the variable sources, I have individually rated the tracks for audio quality, Kate content and interest value.

01. Unforgiven
02. Radio
03. Eternal Life
04. Strawberry Street
05. Bluebird Blues.

Total running time: 14:52

NOTES
Jeff Buckley's first studio session.

'Unforgiven' is the initial working title for 'Last Goodbye'. The instruments, lyrics and vocal melody of the song are a bit different.

'Strawberry Street' previously unreleased, originally written in 1988 - happens to be one of the first songs penned by Jeff & the earliest version dates back to his very first recording session 'The Babylon Dungeon Sessions' from Sept '90. Only two known versions exist of this song. The version without vocals from the Babylon Dungeon sessions and the one which was later revisited and recorded in a rehearsal at The Knitting Factory, NY, in May of 1993, with an early try-out combo of bassist Tom Goodkind (of The Washington Squares) and drummer John McNally. That version is included only on the UK release Grace: 10th Anniversary Legacy Edition. It was also released as the flip side to Forget Her on the blue vinyl 7" freebie that came with the last issue of the Grace LP.

Fantastic recording from Pinkpop Festival 2001 with Radiohead headlining. I had received this one straight from the guy who recorded t from the radio, then transferred to CD and sent it to me. Unfortunately some of the cd´s from my collection are deteriorating, especially when ripping the last tracks. That is why now it becomes urgent to transfer all of them to HD before the are all messed up. Only one track (15) is disturbed, luckily.

Luckily there was somebody who told us that cd was the safest and most enduring support you could get...

The cd is not scratched at all but I tried different rip softwares and did not work. Anyone with good suggestions on how to clean the disc or ripping it differently are more than welcome. Also, if somebody has a clean version of Street Spirit, I can create a new version of this torrent.

Geetarz Comments:
Thanks to the folks at ZigZag, a great chronicle of the Dominos' live shows, previously closely held only by a few traders. Quality is fair to poor, as with many audience recordings from the era, but the performances and historical importance of the shows outshines any limitations of the actual recordings. This is a a fascinating document of the beginning and an end of an essential musical era. Recommended.

I recently found this disc again stored away with a few other unknown (unlabeled) items. Unfortunately I can't exactly remember how I got this. I believe a friend gave it to me years ago, before I had a computer and was able to download gems like this. I have to warn you though....this is of a rather poor quality. Every once in a while the screen turns black, there's a lot of shakin' goin' on, and well...I'd say it's a bit of a dodgy video! But...the atmosphere was simply AMAZING! David was having a very good time, chatty, cheerful, and the sound is fairly okay as well, so I had a great time watching this again, hope you will too!

B5 Heat Wave (includes encore break)
B6 Rivers Of Babylon
B7 Heart Like A Wheel

Notes:

This recording comes from the vinyl bootleg "Live At The Roxy" from the Ze Anonym Plattenspieler label (ZAP 7888). This bootleg was partly known among collectors for its paper insert, which is pretty raunchy (see attached photo). The condition of this vinyl was Near Mint when I played it back to perform the digital transfer. I don't know the performance's date for an exact fact, but etree is saying it's from an unknown day in July 1976 (see link below). The right channel on side A may be slightly lower than the left channel. Nero didn't really offer a way for me to correct it. I believe there may be cuts on the record between tracks A4 - A5, B4 - B5, and B5 - B6 because there are noticeable transitions. Anyway, this is an excellent performance! Just thought I'd share!

bobsboots says:
A great package. The cover is an alternate photo from the Don Hunstien West 4th street photo shoot that produced the official LP cover. Inside is Dylan at CBS studio NY with famed producer John Hammond. The recordings are clear, crisp, and right off of the mix down board. This CD belongs in every collection. It was re-released in 1999 by an unknown Label, and again in 2001 by OMR.

Dave's notes: an essential collection of early outtakes. Great sound. even the casual fan needs this one! artwork included.

notes
This was Nirvana's "homecoming" Seattle show after the intital touring behind "Nevermind". They had just begun to break big and were the talk of the town in Seattle. Wisely, Geffen decided to film and multi-track the complete concert. The audio was recorded and mixed by Andy Wallace, the brains behind the final mix of "Nevermind". A few tracks appeared on CD singles and radio promos, and some of the video footage made it the Nirvana movie, but the complete show was an exclusive bootleg item until the 20th Anniversary edition of "Nevermind". However, the powers-that-be decided to totally remix the audio, and the resulting mix is very bare-bones, and nowhere near as good as Andy Wallace's original mix, which is featured here from a Geffen internal promo cassette. The show is 100% complete and even includes much of the pre and post-show ambience.

note
Now touring Europe, Nirvana's Amsterdam show was recorded by VPRO. Kurt is in a foul mood so this show has a lot more "attitude" than the Seattle show a few weeks previous. It appears that the audio mix was done "on the fly" and not multi-tracked as evidenced by all available versions which have various mixing problems during the first song "Drain You". Some material from this show turned up in the Nirvana movie and even on the live album, but the complete show is still a bootleg-only item. Until very recently, much of the show was available from a radio broadcast but there was missing material that could only be found from a mono video source. Thankfully, a new video has surfaced that features the complete, uncompressed stereo soundtrack starting at the beginning of "Drain You", and that is the source used here. The happenings before "Drain You" have been re-constructed from two sources that are only slightly lesser quality than the rest of the show. Finally, the show can be heard 100% complete and in stereo. Includes the legendary out-of-tune performance of "Come As You Are".

notes
Back in the States, Nirvana were on a triple-bill tour with Pearl Jam and The Red Hot Chili Peppers, playing relatively short sets. For one reason or another, the show in Del Mar was chosen to be recorded for a Westwood One radio broadcast. Wisely, Andy Wallace was hired again, and he did a fine job capturing and mixing this excellent performance. The version featured here is a patchwork of various sources. Most of the show is available in perfect digital quality on various Westwood One promo CD's. However, they have made life difficult for the completist by adding fake crowd noise between many songs and throughout the first half of "Smells Like Teen Spirit". They also took the liberty of censoring the word "shit" from "Aneurysm". Thankfully, and much like the Seattle show, there is an internal Geffen promo cassette available to collectors. It sounds amazingly similar to the digital source, but has various dropouts and flaws. After some slight tweaks, it was used here for all the between-song crowd noise and for "Smells Like Teen Spirit". Now the show is 100% complete, free of dropouts that plague the promo cassette and the fake crowd noise that ruins parts of the digital promos. All of the source switches are seamless and undetectable. Some songs not yet featured on this set have been added to the end of this disc to fill up space. Most of them are soundboard quality and sound better than ever.
