"Depending how you count, the Pink Floyd performed live on BBC Radio or Television a little more than a dozen times between 1967 and 1974. Their first two radio sessions, both on the programme Top Gear, featured original bandleader Syd Barrett on guitar and vocals, as did BBC-TV appearances on Look Of The Week and Top Of The Pops. All BBC performances after 1967 would feature Barrett’s replacement, David Gilmour in the guitar/vocalist role.

"Let There Beeb More Light collects all surviving and circulating performances by the Pink Floyd at the BBC from their respective best sounding sources in chronological order. Now can be heard Pink Floyd’s evolution from psychedelic pop to progressive rock grandmasters in six discs worth of rare music."

In short, the idea is that this is all of Pink Floyd's BBC material from the best sources, as of earlier this year.

One thing to note is that in 1975 (Disc 5), the BBC broadcast a set of Pink Floyd playing "Dark Side of the Moon" at Empire Pool from 16 November 1974. Pink Floyd played there for four straight nights, playing two sets each night: one of "Wish You Were Here" material, and another of "Dark Side". The band recorded at least both sets from 15 and 16 November, and perhaps all of them. An edit of the two performances from 15 and 16 November were released on two separate discs on the "Dark Side" and "Wish You Were Here" Immersion collections. From what I understand, it was the band who recorded the performances and owned the tapes, and licensed the 16 November 1974 set for broadcast on The Alan Freeman Show on the BBC. (Please correct me if this is wrong!)

The decision, then, was made to only use the single set from 16 November 1974 as broadcast by the BBC, and not the two sets edited from the 15-16 November 1974 shows as released on the Immersion box sets. Which is just a long-winded way of saying "that's why the Harvested bootleg was used as the source for Disc 5 and not the Immersion collections."

Some Words From The BBC:
As part of the Goodbye TV Centre celebrations, guitarist, singer and songwriter Richard Thompson plays a one-off concert filmed in TC8. Thompson has been performing in BBC TV studios since 1969, starting on Top of the Pops with Fairport Convention and then making frequent appearances on the Old Grey Whistle Test, The Late Show and Later with Jools Holland as a solo artist and bandleader. Filmed before the opening night of the tour celebrating the Top 20 placing of his album Electric, Thompson leads his current power trio through songs from that album, including Salford Sunday and Stony Ground, alongside classics from his songbook like I Want to See the Bright Lights and Tear Stained Letter. Thompson is joined on a couple of acoustic songs by former Fairport bandmate and master fiddler Dave Swarbrick, frequent collaborator Pete Zorn adds sax to Al Bowlly's In Heaven and his daughter Kami Thompson harmonises on Waltzing for Dreamers. Filmed before a small studio audience in the bare style of some of the previous BBC music shows on which Thompson has appeared, this concert celebrates Thompson and a tradition of popular music performance from TV Centre.

By the early 1980s, the cracks in The Clash had begun to form. Coming off their daring 1980 triple-album Sandinista!, work began on their fifth album in late 1981 at a London rehearsal space, demoing new material with a mobile multitrack set-up. While Clash frontman Joe Strummer hoped for a more commercial and concise single album of roots-rock, guitarist Mick Jones wished to continue the world beat influence of their previous album, pushing the envelope to his current tastes in dub, reggae and American hip-hop. Temporarily shelving their differences, The Clash embarked on a tour and residency to road-test the new material. During this period, the band embraced images and concepts associated with the Vietnam War—or at least the Vietnam War as seen through the Hollywood lens. They also embraced elements of urban American culture, even as much as having graffiti artist Futura 2000 paint the backdrop of their tour. Blending this ‘ghetto’ and Vietnam War imagery together, they created an aesthetic of “urban warfare” which was perpetuated in Joe Strummers lyrics for the new material. Was this perhaps a metaphor for the band’s own internal warfare?

In 2011, U.K. TV channel BBC4 started rolling back time by 35 years and started
re-broadcasting the UK TV weekly music show “Top Of The Pops”. These shows were
re-broadcast in it’s full entirety with the presenters introducing the acts of the time. BBC4 (a digital channel) started repeating shows starting in 1976.
(Some bloody dreadful acts, so thank you PUNK music)

Unfortunately by the summer of the 1977 broadcasts (and, after the court allegation’s with under age sex with girls by the TOTP presenters Jimmy Saville and also another presenter Dave Lee Travis only a few months later) BBC4 did not re-broadcast those episodes with those presenters.

The Ballad Of Mott The Hoople
A Documentary split into 12 chapters
Run time:- 01:00:23

Some words from the BBC:
Documentary telling the bruised and battered, but triumphant, tale of one of the UK's most cherished rock 'n' roll bands, Mott the Hoople. Originating from Herefordshire, the band were thrown together in 1969 and signed to Island Records by the increasingly erratic manager/producer Guy Stevens, in a bid to find a band that would combine The Rolling Stones rhythmic power with the melody and lyricism of 'Blonde on Blonde' era Bob Dylan. The documentary charts their journey from cult struggling touring band to their successful transformation into 'glam rock players' thanks to the intervention of David Bowie who gave them their biggest hit, 'All The Young Dudes', and their subsequent collapse after the addition of Mick Ronson to their line-up. Mott the Hoople's story is brought to life through a combination of rare and unseen archive footage, their magnificent music and the testimony of band members Ian Hunter, Mick Ralphs, Verden Allen, Dale Griffin, Luther Grosvenor aka Ariel Bender and various other associates and witnesses, including boyhood fan Mick Jones of The Clash and Queen's Roger Taylor.

Additional Information from "Dream Giver":
After a two month break, the 'New Gold Dream tour' continued in the lowlands with dates across The Netherlands and Belgium. "Dutch Daze" is a recording of one of these early gigs when the set-list was dominated by the current 'New Gold Dream' album with a scattering of early singles thrown in for good measure. Unfortunately despite the crisp, clear and even recording, "Dutch Daze" chose to drop several tracks from the Vereeniging gig, (namely "Colours Fly And Catherine Wheel","New Gold Dream (81,82,83,84)","Love Song" and "Sweat In Bullet") and instead substitute two tracks from a previous year. (These songs were probably from a different source than the "Life In A Day" CD bootleg, which covers the same concert, as this recording is much sharper and clearer.)
This odd choice meant two helpings of "King Is White And In The Crowd" from different concerts which neatly bookend the CD but was not what the band ever performed. Despite these inconsistencies (and an annoying index error on the disc itself),"Dutch Daze" is recommended for its colourful packaging and the quality of its recordings.

Comments:
"Tonite Let's All Make Love In London" has never been released on DVD in its entirety. Only bits of interviews and Pink Floyd's performances. The best source for the entire movie has been the Japanese Laserdisc release which is used here for the DVD transfer. The Laserdisc contains Japanese subtitles encoded in the video during the interviews and chapter titles.
