Notes:
Holy smokes! Ive never seen Paul (outside of a guest appearance at Shea Stadium with Billy Joel in '08) and boy have I missed out! How a 75 year old man can perform for over 3 hours is well beyond my comprehension. This show will certainly go down as one of my all-time favorites. When tickets were put on sale earlier this year, the price tag was a hefty $275 w/ all fees. Right there & then, I quickly dismissed the possibility of going. Roughly a month later my friend Kris had found out how badly I wanted to see Paul and offered me her extra ticket on the floor if I wanted it. Then, she tells me its her "treat". I honestly did not think I was hearing her correctly. I would have been pleased as punch if this were a nosebleed ticket, but, no, this was 22 rows back from the stage! I later found it pretty ironic it was directly in front of the right stack, something I always look for during onsales. I asked her again if she was serious and she reiterated she was and that it was a thank you for all of my recordings I have given her over the years. So, I took it. Do you blame me? We went and had a great time. So, without her kindness and generosity, this recording would not exist. This goes out to her! Regarding the show, this was the 2nd of 2 nights at the brand new LCA in Detroit. He changed up a few songs from night 1, which was a welcome surprise having checked the setlist beforehand. The recording went fairly well. I had quiet neighbors and was happy with the sound in the new place. I did perform some volume adjustments during the quieter songs as well as when Paul would speak between songs. Please share & turn this one up! The 3 hours go by quick. This was the final American show of 2017. Long live the great Paul McCartney! What a treasure.
