Notes by the trader/taper:
THE DATE:
To the best of my knowledge, this is the first time this show has been dated correctly. I spent the past year or so working with the Archives Dep't. at WSU to turn up specific information on this performance. The broadcast dates were determined through student newspaper clippings (the newsletter clips refer to the group as "Hart" & notes they are from Canada). Clearly, at this point they were a relatively "unknown band" from the Pacific Northwest.

Traders database erroneously has this show listed as ??/??/75, ??/??/76 & 1/1/76. It also says the show was "Possibly rebroadcast on MTV in 1981". I don't beleive this ever happened. I'm still working on the precise date the film was shot, but my best guess at this point is late February or March, 1976.

THE VENUE/"SECOND ENDING":
Again, the lions share of this information came from a very kind soul at WSU Archives. The Second Ending was filmed in the KWSU-TV studios and broadcast somewhat irregularly in the Pacific Northwest beginning in early 1976 and ran for at least 2 years. The director of the series Michael J. Costones would actively seek out local artists to showcase on the series.
The studio is very small and held between 50-75 people, mostly WSU students. On this date for the Heart performance, it is clear the majority of the crowd had never heard of the band and are visibly blown out. This is the best quality transfer I have been able to find of this show. If anyone has a 1st Gen VHS from the Master Reel, please share it with us.

Description:
Great show, well circulated, this copy is low generation, reputed to be from the master to the person I got it from, so posted as 3rd generation. This is one of my favorite shows from the 1978 tour along with Nashville. Great versions of Rock N'Roll Suicide and Heroes. The show is missing Rebel Rebel as is common on all versions.

18 'Outro'

Marianne Faithfull's show at Tipitina's, New Orleans, as broadcast on FM radio. DJ announcers have been edited out. Surprisingly, and happily, rude words have not been blipped out, even the "c---" in "Why d'ya do it?". The sound is not quite pristine FM, and lacks a bit of clarity, but is still good. The show is an acoustic one, played to an enthusiastic audience, which palpably creates more energy in the performance by Faithfull and her guitarist, Barry Reynolds.

Notes:
Fresh high quality lossless transfer of a very low generation VHS copy (provided by Limulus). This is one of 2 April '92 shows that surfaced on VHS back in the day (the other is Oklahoma on April 6th), professionally filmed to be used on the screens at the side of the stage. They were supposedly stolen from GNR's video crew. This show is unfortunately incomplete, the last song 'Paradise City' cuts out after about a minute. I've patched in the missing bit from the complete audience recording, for people who would like to have this show in full. I left 'Paradise City' as two seperate tracks that have a seamless transition, so if you only want the soundboard audio, you can skip the last two tracks. There's several quality DVD transfers of this show, but to my knowledge they all have lossy audio. Transfers of the SBD audio off VHS tapes of this show have done the rounds before, but this one sounds, well, better ... Enjoy one of the longest shows on the UYI tour (look at that setlist !), just over 3 hours, when GNR was still GNR !

A big thanks to the "neckey-voltarized" team for this great improvement. Neckey provided the source vhs tape and its digitalization. Voltarized re-authored the whole thing.
