John Lennon & Yoko Ono - Free Time (1971-10-14) + Flipside (1973-06-30) (2008 edition)
Excellent quality Pro-shot recording of John & Yoko Lennon, recorded live on the PBS shows Free Time (1971) and Flipside (1973). Total running time is 86 minutes, quality is 8/10.
Free Time: One of the most intriguing Television appearance by the Lennon's - this TV special was shot in front of a studio audience and was presumably designed to promote Yoko's Syracuse exhibition which opened five days before the broadcast. Alternative film-maker Jonas Mekas was present throughout to help the Lennon's run through a series of exhibits.
Sample: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEoGga1bokE
Flipside: John Lennon and his wife, Yoko Ono, were interviewed May 12, 1973 for Flipside at The Record Plant East in New York for airing on June 30, 1973. Ono performed “Winter Song” from her recent album Approximately Infinite Universe.
The lineage is incorrect. This is an MCP production. Originially uploaded to Hunger City years ago. Here is the original text:

notes:
"I've always loved Lydia Pense and Cold Blood since I first saw live them in the Motown back in early 1970. Lydia was a sexy dynamo onstage, the band was funky, and had great dynamics live. The original source of this show comes from the Fillmore West 30th Anniversary Tree, and is one of the only documents around of Cold Blood's early sets. Taken from an FM broadcast, there are several audio flaws from the soundboard mix and tape hiss throughout including a Fillmore power failure, so this show could use a remaster job by those in the know. Additionally track-12 (I Just Wanna Make Love To You) had to be removed due to release on the "Last days of the Fillmore" box set. But stll if you are a fan of Cold Blood. it's a pleasure to listen to them live once again! As always your comments are appreciated!!!"

Geetarz Comments:
There is some debate about whether or not this is the original cover art.
Some sources (perhaps the original cover art) incorrectly list the date of this show as September 29, 1974, which was the date of the other EC performance at that venue in 1974. Based on the set list, the June 30 date is correct. EC always tended to ad lib a bit during "Little Queenie", this show was no exception: "If I had some drugs, I'd get HIGH!" and of course an off-key and off tempo version of "Rule Brittania".

Review from Steve:
The title has come from a line near the end of the CD. Spoken by Van Morrison in reply to someone in the audience who seems to disagree with Van taking a long time to return for an encore (about 3-4 minutes of clapping) and gets up on the stage himself - Van Morrison replies "If You Don't Like It, Go Fuck Yourself"

A (former) buddy of mine recorded this show while a member of the VH crew.
WOODA remastered it...along with a handful of other early gigs...not the least of which is the now-infamous
NIGHTMARE BEFORE HALLOWEEN. With the much-deserved success of Greg Renoff's literary and historic masterpiece
VAN HALEN RISING...I thought it would be a good time to bring some of these early shows to surface.
Among the highlights of this show...
I should point out that the boys are introduced by legendary KROQ DJ Rodney Bingenheimer
LET'S GET ROCKIN' winds up being OUTTA SPACE on A DIFFERENT KIND OF TRUTH.
SHOW YOUR LOVE is, of course, I'M THE ONE.
I LIVE WITH FOOLS, later FOOLS, features the origin of Dave's "THE STORY OF JOE"...which became a regular part of the 1979 tour.

Description
Ustad Vilayat Khan was a contemporary and a great rival of Pandit Ravi Shankar and arguably one of the greatest sitar players of all time. He tragically passed away in March of 2004 at the age of 76. He has many recordings on various labels including India Archive Music and Navras. My favorite recording of his is Darbari Kannada recorded back in the 60s (recently re-released on CD) - it set the standard for all sitarists who followed on how to play this raga. His son Shujat Khan tours the USA regularly and is a very gifted sitarist in his own right. FYI, a good place for Indian CDs is www.shrimatis.com, the best selection and prices I have come across. www.khazana.com is another good place.
Concert recordings of his are hard to come by because Khan sahib disliked being recorded. This was a stealth recording from the soundboard done on to reel-to-reel. Mine is low gen cassette copy from the master. This is a very early and rare recording and Khan sahib is in top form.
SBD -> reel to reel -> cassette -> Sound Forge -> CD-R -> EAC -> FLAC 8 w/align on sector boundaries
Edit Notes:
Because Indian music involves a lot of tuning and the pieces are each very long, I edit so that only the music remains in order to allow the music to fit on a CD.

Comments:
The only problem here is that there are a couple of female broadcasters here who refuse to shut up. They blab, and blab, and blab all the way thru this recording. Sometimes they even talk over some of the songs. They just refuse to shut up. The audio is awesome, though. Well worth adding to your collection. The two bonus tracks from the Arsenio Hall Show are pretty rare, too.

While doing some research I found another version of this performance. That was sourced from an unofficial release on vinyl which has now been converted to a silver CD. This is from my master "Off the Air" tape recording and has never been shared before.
Performed balance and volume adjustments as required. Converted to 16-44 for CD burning archivists.
Loved the sound of this Phillips tuner. Punchy and excellent stereo separation so no EQ needed.
Frequency analysis reveals the standard FM broadcast roll off including a spur at 15.734 kHz. This was a by-product of the recording equipment and would not be audible to most people. A narrow band notch filter was applied to reduce the amplitude so it is now inaudible to young and old ears.

Comments
- There are a lot of flac 16 versions of this show in circulation but I've never come across a 24 bit version so I thought I'd put that right.
- There's a little bit of something else thrown into the mix here at about 8:49 but I can't for the life of me remember the song title. Wait up it's, it's Steppin' Out!
