I take no credit for sharing this. I just made some simple improvements and wanted to bump up this show. On another note, what makes these Shrine shows important, was the fact that B.B. King was the opening act. It was great exposure for the kids to see a real blues man just before the YB's came out. I always wondered if Jimmy and B.B. ever met during these shows and did they have a chance to talk to each other? Somebody needs to interview Jimmy about this time period.

Sourced from the pre-air production reel-to-reel tape. This is a huge upgrade over the existing AM-sourced recording.
This performance (which features all the band in cameos except for Vini Lopez) is highlighted by what many consider the definitive available version of “You Mean So Much To Me”. During the show a fan calls into the radio station and requests Bruce’s old Steel Mill chestnut “Resurrection” – but Bruce doesn’t play it. Interestingly as Bruce takes his seat to perform a song solo at the piano one of the entourage can be heard saying “Janey?” – apparently thinking Bruce was going to perform the recently composed “Janey Needs A Shooter” to which Bruce replies “no” and instead delivers a fine version of his then-new “New York Song”.
Brucebase:
Bruce's second known radio show, but this one is unusual because it took place at Richmond's Alpha Sound Studios (or Alpha Audio), not at the station itself. It was broadcast live by WGOE-AM 1590 via a remote link. In addition to the DJ the small audience heard in the studio included Mike Appel, Jim Cretecos, Albee Tellone and David Sancious (who had yet to join the band but who was employed at the studio at the time). Albee Tellone has recently commented that he does not believe he was in the audience, but setting up the equipment for the evening show at Richmond Coliseum. The listed six-song setlist is the complete performance. This performance (which features all the band in cameos except for Vini Lopez) is highlighted by what many consider the definitive available version of "You Mean So Much To Me". During the show a fan calls into the radio station and requests Bruce’s old Steel Mill chestnut "Resurrection" but Bruce doesn’t play it. After the show Mike Appel took possession of the master tape, so none of the performance was ever re-broadcast by the station. Fortunately a fan taped the entire show from their radio, although the sound quality was weak. Although this audience audio had been in circulation since the mid-1970s it had never appeared on any mainstream bootleg, exception for the track "You Mean So Much To Me", which first surfaced on the 1976 vinyl LP boot 'Resurrected' in poor quality. This later appeared in better quality on the CD 'Radio Waves' (Great Dane). The entire fan-recorded version is now available on a custom CDR boot entitled 'Strictly Prohibited'. A low generation copy of the entire original master tape (noted above) first surfaced (in very limited hands) in the early 1990s. Then the recording of the track "You Mean So Much To Me" from this source emerged on the 1998 boot 'Deep Down In The Vaults' (E Street Records) and in 1999 on 'Missing Tracks, Vol. One' (Thrill Hill). The complete master tape in perfect sound quality finally emerged into the wider collector community in early 2007, and is available on CD 'On The Road Night' (Crystal Cat), tracks 8-13.

Wendy’s Bonzo’s Birthday Party, released in April 2005, is a redaction of the soundboard and two audience recordings. It is their attempt to present the concert in its entirety. The first hour of the soundboard surfaced in the fall of 1999 on Bonzo’s Birthday Presents (CDM-001) on the Celebration label, their very first release. Three years later the second hour appeared on both Watch Tower (WT 2001041/42) and Empress Valley’s Bonzo’s Birthday Party Definitive Edition (EVSD 171/172). The first audience recording is used for the beginning and runs to the first verse of “Rock And Roll”.
It is used again for several holes in “The Rain Song” and “Dazed And Confused”, and picks up again with “Moby Dick”, “Heartbreaker”, “Whole Lotta Love” and the first encore “The Ocean”. The third and poorest sounding tape is used for the second and final encore “Communication Breakdown”. There have been multiple releases of the audience tapes including several editions utilizing all three, and it sounds as if Wendy used Bonzo’s Birthday Party (Vol. 90) on The Diagrams Of Led Zeppelin, one of their last and greatest releases.
This is the first time the audience sources were used to complete the show, but Wendy equalized the soundboard recording a bit too much and it produces an unwanted crunchiness to the music that isn’t present on prior releases. It is a shame because this could have been a killer release except for that flaw. Since this show has been in constant circulation for more than thirty years it is familiar to all Zeppelin collectors.
Robert Plant himself calls this show “magic” and it is given how loose everyone is and in the mood to party. Jimmy Page hurt his finger several days before when they were throwing beer bottles out of the hotel window (so the story goes) and the first LA date on May 30th was canceled. His injured finger is noticeable with some bum notes in “Rock And Roll” and especially “Celebration Day”, but with “Black Dog” he hits his stride. Plant suggests the name of the recording after “Over The Hills And Far Away” and says he had known Bonzo for fifteen years ”and he’s been a regular bastard”.
The new songs from Houses Of The Holy “No Quarter”, “The Song Remains The Same” and “The Rain Song” sound magnificent from the soundboard. “Dazed And Confused” is introduced as something as old as the band and is, “as you say in your country, a far out heavy trip.” What follows is one of the best half hour versions of the songs available. “Stairway To Heaven” is dedicated to Bonzo and Plant allows him to bash his balls out for “Moby Dick”. After the “Whole Lotta Love” finale the audience are rewarded with two encores.
Overall this show is a must have for any collection although Wendy is not it. It has caused interest in people that the soundboard recording has been trickling out in stages over the years and there is hope that someday the final hour will somehow be liberated from the hoarders who are holding it hostage for, what can be assumed, vast amounts of money. That is the sad state of affairs with Led Zeppelin tapes and it deprives everybody from these great recordings.

Two days before the release of Darkness On The Edge Town, Bruce plays the last show of a three-night stand and his last ever performance at the Music Hall in Boston. The Music Hall was witness to a number of legendary performances from Bruce and Co. with many considering the 1977 run of shows some of the best of the era. The 1978 run of shows seems to find its’ place a notch below those shows, likely overshadowed by the eventual marathon performances and legendary FM broadcasts that have a permanent place in rock n’ roll legend. However, this show should not be overlooked due to both the quality of the capture and the tightly focused performance.
The show has been available for many years, according to “collectorsmusicreview.com”, first on the CDR release “Looking For That Million Dollar Sound” which ran fast, a second pitch corrected version of “Looking For That Million Dollar Sound” and a third silver CD release “Early Darkness” on Masterpiece which is apparently taken from the pitch corrected version of the second CDR release.
This torrent release is a newly transferred version deriving from a 1st generation tape of the only known source that has been in my possession since the early 1980’s and is one of the very best captures from the “Darkness” tour or any number of tours for that matter. There have been a number of reports regarding the struggles nailing down the sound early in the tour as the tour moved to different sized venues, none of that is apparent in this capture. The sound and the taper are both dialed in from the first to the last notes. Almost no audience interference is present and to my knowledge no music is missing or cut. The tour premier of “Quarter To Three” replaces the standard early tour closer “You Can’t Sit Down”.
For whatever reason I was having trouble dialing in the pitch on this one so I sent it off to the good professor’s lab before final mastering took place, a big thanks to Prof Goody for the pitch adjustment settings.
Last but not least big thanks to both the original taper and the tremendous job capturing the performance and E from JEMS for the continued use of the Nak DR-01 to ensure the absolute highest quality is attained.

note:
This is truly one of the very best George Michael bootlegs to ever surface. This was recorded during the height of his commericial success, on the wildly successful Faith Tour. George is at the very top of his game vocally, even hitting the high notes in "One More Try" with ease. "Hard Day" comes off much better here than it does on record, making for an excellent lead-off track. The Stevie Wonder cover, "Love's In Need Of Love Today" is a song that suits George's voice perfectly and he really shines on it. The hit duet with Aretha Franklin, "I Knew You We're Waiting" is performed solo here, and you really don't miss Aretha, George nails it on his own. "Careless Whisper" is milked to the extreme, with an extended saxaphone solo that really takes this epic to the next level. Deon Estus, bass player and backround vocalist is a standout on this recording, laying down a solid groove throughout the show. The 1996 unplugged shows are excellent, but this recording, with a full band is very, very special.

this may not be a complete show, since it's a little shorter than their usual, but there were several other bands at this concert including Green Day, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones and a few others so they may have played a shorter set than usual for this event. this is the complete WBCN broadcast, uninterrupted.

Notes:
Well I was inspired by god_61's 'Elevation Tour 15th Anniversary Flood' to revisit this one. I pulled out my original Buffalo 2001 ALD and matrixed it with this circulating AUD recording. This was one of my very early attempts at ALD recording... with somewhat good results. Along with many of the limitations of ALD systems, Buffalo's system is on a 'limiter'. I did NOT go back to the original master tape for this matrix, there are a number of much better recordings from this tour. Going back to the original Master would probably not enhance this much more that this. Originally recorded with a borrowed SONY D8. I did not have access to a digital transfer at the time. The D8 transfer to .wav is more than likely analogue. The original ALD post was mastered in Cool Edit Pro, with a custom delay (to fill out the sound)
This mix uses the original mastered ALD post. Mixed and time synced in Audition, with some minor EQ and plug in's. To match the original ALD post, some audience appreciation (encore clapping) was removed. I also removed the first 1:15 seconds of Trippy Elevation Mix (which was a patch from the Chicago 5-16-2001 show) Re-tracked in Cool Edit Pro (just because it's easier than Audition)
Added split track #7 for my friends Bruce and Mary Moser, who via their first USA tour, arguably, single handedly introduced U2 to the USA. (at 'Stage One' in Buffalo in 1980)
Alternate tracks 17 & 18 for CD splits are included

Simulcast live from Buddy Guy's Legends
probable date May 31st, 2003
Performers: Buddy Guy, Lonnie Brooks, Wayne Baker Brooks, Otis Taylor
Emcee: WXRT's Tom Marker
Lineage: FM b'cast (unknown method of capture) > ? > Roy's CDR, received in trade &
lost in Roy's collection for several years
Extracted to the hard drive in November 2010 using EAC in Secure Mode where it
sat on Roy's hard drive for another year.
Heavy editing to remove commercials and officially-released material using
Cool Edit Pro 2.0, Its remaining eighty-six minute length required it to be
mastered to fit on two audio CDs.
No other processing (EQing) done. Seems to be a good capture of a FM b'cast,
with little or no distortion or b'cast fuzz.
Large WAVs split using CD Wave Editor.
SBEs-corrected using Trader's Little Helper ("-fixed" removed from filenames).

This recording consists of the original MPEG data as broadcast by NED3. Neither the video or the audio have been recompressed - it was simply "saved" to hard disk using a PC DVB card and then remultiplexed to the DVD standard.
The recording is confirmed to be 100% error-free - i.e. no dropped frames.
Quality is better on this part then on the next given the broadcast, recording and transfer methods.
Software/Hardware used:
Hauppauge "Nova-S" PCI DVB Card
Linux DVB drivers/dvbstream to capture original DVB transport stream
"Project X" to cut and demux the original transport stream
