'Baby Let Me Follow You Down' by Eric von Schmidt, and
'God Save the Queen' (which is Britain's national anthem).

Notes: An extracted review from THE FAMOUS ETIQUETTE BOOK...

(Crazy Joe) : And it came to pass that Dylan raised his axe and let forth a mighty chord that rent the very foundation of the earth. And truly it was ground breaking stuff, and many that were to follow tilled the earth that he had broken, and many and varied were the fruits of their labour, but Dylan was the first to plough that land and make fertile the barren rock and bring forth the ghost of electricity.

So beganneth the infamous 1966 "world tour", and this 8 CD box set, containing all of the unreleased circulating soundboard recordings from the tour, is the equivalent of an illuminated manuscript documenting the event...

Review by OSWALD From Hotwacks:
Billed as home studio recordings from 1965-1975, this set is a pretty monumental collection of Townsend's demos. The nature of the material makes it impossible to tell how comprehensive it is, but a quick glance imparts that this collection very nicely supercedes a series of releases, both underground and sanctioned. As any Who fan knows, Townsend's home demos make for fascinating listening -- many of the arrangements, licks, and even vocal phrasing is already present on these rougher takes. Add to that a sort of home-made funkiness (think a more pissed-off, English version of the Band), and you have a set of recordings that stack up very well against their more familiar later, full-band versions. Townsend has leaked out this
sort of stuff on the SCOOP collections for some time, but those have always been piecemeal affairs -- one track from here, another from ten years later, synth instrumentals next to unreleased songs. This collection is wonderfully focused, chronological, and in pretty strong fidelity. The three Who benchmarks, TOMMY, WHO'S NEXT, and QUADROPHENIA, are well represented, as are a host of popular album and singles tracks in sketchbook form. The thrill of having these cuts in one place and in a reasonable order is indescribable. The drawbacks to this set are few -- sound quality is pretty consistant, the material is endlessly engaging. My one complaint is the packaging. A cool mini-poster of rare foreign EP sleeves is killer, but there are no notes to put the cuts into context. That being said, it's pretty obvious where this stuff comes from, an it should be of major interest to Who buffs the world over. Pete's demo of "Empty Glass" might be the most intense thing he ever laid down...

Review by Matt Whipple from Hypertext Who:
This is another beautiful package from HIWATT! A super 5 CD set complete with a 9.5" x 14" double-sided poster. The tracks are all PT demos presented in chronological order of when they were recorded. The back insert states: "ALL TRACKS RECORDED 1965-1975 BY PETE TOWNSHEND
IN HIS HOME STUDIOS: OLD CHURCH STREET, CHELSEA AND TWICKENHAM". Although I doubt that any of the tracks for Who Are You were recorded prior to 1975. The majority of these tracks were taken from Pete's Scoop series, The Lifehouse Chronicles and Pete's website. Disc 1 actually has a 26th song not listed on the disc - Accidents (this was written by Pete for the Thunderclap Newman release - w. Speedy Keene and a very young Jimmy McCollough a lead guitarist). On Disc 2, last 2 seconds of track 3 starts to play Jaguar. Disc 5, Track 18 - should be No Road Romance NOT No Road Running as stated on the back scan. The others are from various bootlegs still not officially released. An initial listen reveals excellent sound quality.

REO Speedwagon, formed in 1967, stayed pretty much the same as far as members of the group went throughout the years with a few exceptions. This video was shot before members Kevin Cronin (vocals) or Bruce Hall (bass) were in the band. And years later, as they were transitioning from a more classic rock with a lot of guitar type of band to a more ballads type of band, Gary Richrath did not like this. I personally like both eras of the band's music but I really like the 1981 and earlier REO Speedwagon the best where Richrath played awesome solos in the songs.

In 1989, after the band decided to stop the partying and clean up their act, Gary Richrath did not want to go the direction the rest of the band was going. He was upset by the music and he had been getting more and more heavily into drug use which the rest of the band had reportedly stopped doing at this point. So the band fired him and replaced him with Dave Amato.

Richrath made an attempt at playing his own solo music and tours briefly, but that was short lived. He just sort of disappeared from the public eye and not much was heard of him or from him after that. He did appear on stage and plat with REO Speedwagon once more in 2013 at a benefit show to the surprise of the crowd. But two years later, he's now gone for good sadly.

This is a superb capture of the band when the lineup had Terry Luttrell on vocals and Gregg Philbin on bass. The other members were future and even present members that stuck with the band for a long time through the years and they include Neal Doughty on keyboards, Alan Gratzer on drums, and of course the now late Gary Richrath.

I'm not 100% sure who is with REO Speedwagon today, but I do know a few of the early and possibly original lineup is still with them. And most members have been there from the 1970's I believe. Either Doughty or Gratzer recently retired I believe but I know Kevin Cronin, Bruce Hall, and Dave Amato (joined in 1990 I believe) are definitely with REO Speedwagon today and they are constantly touring and rocking. I've seen them so many times and recorded so many shows of them over the years I cannot even remember how many times it has been.

So as a tribute to Gary Richrath, here is an early look into REO Speedwagon.

Notes:
Originally released as a Japanese import bootleg DVD and claiming to be from 1973-1976, it turns out these performances are from just two episodes in 1973 and 1974. Some costume changes may throw ya, as well as the fact that James blows through old and new songs and varied styles it may seem to be 3 years in the making, but alas, this is the correct info…Hell most entertainers don’t even change this much in 3 years, James was doing all this in the span of ONE!...

Bruce Springsteen - The Early Uber Collection (SBD/FLAC)

(Soundboard FLAC)

Bruce Springsteen
Title: The Early Uber Collection
Label: Ev2
Format: 3CD
- Sources, dates and locations listed above the show listings.

source for ALL shows:
tattoodad's uber project @ http://www.spl-messages.net

====================================

March 14, 1972 - Challenger Eastern Surfboards, Highlands, NJ.
The Uber Series Volume '26'
(Tinker West's Professional Rehearsal Room):

01 Don't You Want To Be An Outlaw ('Jesse James', 'Billy')
02 It's All Over Now, Baby Blue
03 When You Dance
04 "It's A Groove When You Move"
05 Look Towards The Land
06 I've Got To Have You Baby
07 "Studio Chatter"
08 Funk Song

Taken from audio of a BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN BAND rehearsal. The band line-up is Van Zandt-Sancious-Tallent-Lopez. In addition to the 55 minutes of music there are nearly 7 minutes of fascinating between-song banter, much of it between Springsteen and Tinker West, who Bruce jokingly refers to as "Stinky". Tinker appears to be testing some new recording equipment. The sound quality is uniformly excellent. It is evident from the discussions that the rehearsals had been going on for some time before the recording starts. It should be noted that this is not Challenger's more famous Wanamassa location that Bruce had lived in during the 1969-70 Steel Mill era. Tinker West had relocated the factory to Highlands, NJ in mid-1971 and had then constructed a more professional rehearsal room.

The standout track here is "When You Dance". Although rough quality live renditions exist, this is a clear rendition, with astounding Springsteen-Van Zandt dual lead guitar interplay. Noteworthy as well is "Funk Song" (also known as "Funk Says Right On"). There are no live renditions of "Funk Song" from this period circulating, however Bruce surprisingly resurrected it during a few shows early on the Born To Run Tour (see gig listings for 23/07/75, 29/07/75 and 08/08/75). In addition to the Dylan song, there is also a cover of "I've Got To Have You Baby", an obscure 1956 R&B single by Jimmy Jones & The Pretenders.

====================================

May 31, 1973 - WGOE Radio, Alpha Studios, Richmond, VA.
The Uber Series Volume '22'
(Pre-Air Production Reel-To-Reel Tape):

01 Intro
02 Satin Doll
03 Band Introduction
04 Does This Bus Stop At 82nd Street?
05 "Something Obscene"
06 The Circus Song
07 "Tonight We Have Vini"
08 Growin' Up
09 Banter
10 New York City Song
11 "Gonna Do One More"
12 You Mean So Much To Me"
13 Outro

Sourced from the pre-air production reel-to-reel tape. This is a huge upgrade over the existing AM-sourced recording.

This performance (which features all the band in cameos except for Vini Lopez) is highlighted by what many consider the definitive available version of "You Mean So Much To Me". During the show a fan calls into the radio station and requests Bruce's old Steel Mill chestnut "Resurrection", but Bruce doesn't play it. Interestingly as Bruce takes his seat to perform a song solo at the piano one of the entourage can be heard saying "Janey?", apparently thinking Bruce was going to perform the recently composed "Janey Needs A Shooter" to which Bruce replies "no" and instead delivers a fine version of his then-new "New York Song".

====================================

January 6, 1974 - Joe's Place, Cambridge, MA.
The Uber Series Volume '21'
(Soundboard):

01 You Mean So Much To Me
02 Growin' Up
03 Let the Four Winds Blow
04 Introduction
05 Zero and Blind Terry
06 Blinded By The Light
07 Intro
08 For You
09 Tuning
10 Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)
11 "Joe Spadafora Thanks"
12 Twist And Shout

ONE show, double bill, with Springsteen headlining and PETER JOHNSON & THE MANIC DEPRESSIVES opening.

Every track 'remastered', removed many cuts from sources and made some better track indexing. Only problem with audio is the hiss which is sometimes very loud (but considering the age of these shows, it's understandable).
