Jimi Hendrix - Winterland - Bob Terry Tapes (VAR/FLAC)
(Various FLAC)
Winterland - Bob Terry Tapes
Here we have Winterland tapes from Bob Terry, dubbed by him to Fuji HQ T-120 HI-FI VHS audio only format.
There are two different mixes for the first two shows. The first one is the one we are used to. The alternate mix has the drums mixed more up front.
Bob Terry Source Tapes>RCA 630HF HI-Fi Stereo VHS recorder (SP speed, audio only mode)> Lucid analog to digital converter>firewire>Macbook>SoundStudio>.wav>flac.
This RCA deck is the actual deck used to record these tapes. Great to have as hi-fi audio played back on a non-original machine usually picks up a 60 hertz hum. That was a problem until the original deck was located!
Big, big thanks to Bill B.. of New J.. for the tapes!

Notes by the uploader/trader:
To welcome in the year when we should get the definitive collection of "Exile" from Don Was and Sir Michael Philip Jagger (here's hoping!), here is a compilation of the best quality recordings for all the early versions, unreleased material, etc. that is currently available from the sessions that produced "Exile On Main St".
I listened to at least twenty different bootlegs to obtain what seemed to me to be the best sounding versions. In some cases the the choices were marginal; in others they were obvious because the tracks were truncated, badly noise reduced, or they sounded downright dreadful. I also included a few tracks that didn't make it through to the final Exile (or any other) album because they were recorded at the same sessions and appeared to fit naturally.
A few tracks have been mildly equalized (<2.5bB per frequency range) and/or pitch/speed corrected using the "Exile On Main St" Virgin CD as a guide. No compression or noise reduction used. Amadeus Pro (Mac OS X) was used for all editing.
There are obviously other ways to put this together. Others might choose different versions to mine, or argue whether some of the tracks really belong here at all, but hey, that's life.
I'm very interested to hear if anybody has tracks that are listed as coming from the various sessions but are not on these boots (eg. "Sophia Loren" from the Dec 1971/early 1972 LA session). Maybe these and others we don't know about will show up on the official release later this year.

Recorded live in Vancouver, B.C. on April 18th, 1975. One of the greatest features of a PF live show was the presentation of music yet to be released. Throughout their history, they gave their audiences a taste of what was yet to come, works in progress. On this recording we get a sample of the "Animals" album that would be released 2 years later. "Raving and Drooling" would later be "Sheep" and far more psychadelic than the album version complete with screams from Roger ala "Careful with That Axe". "You've Gotta Be Crazy" would later become "Dogs" and once again very different in spots from the album version. The crowd is quite unexpectedly treated to a performance of "Echoes" much to their shock and delight.

Recorded live in Quebec on July 6th, 1977
Another classic PF performance from the Animals tour. . On this tour they performed both albums back-to-back. Recorded live in Quebec on July 6th, 1977, this concert has some of the longest jams of the tour with two songs over 20 minutes long. Shine on You Crazy Diamond (part 6-9) is very extended with some incredible soloing from Gilmour and Wright as they play around with the accoustics of the arena. Sounds incredibly spacey, almost frightening in its delivery. Even Pigs (3 Different Ones) gets the extended treatment, near 9 minutes longer than the studio version.

notes by the trader
Finally, after months in the making here it is.
Originally I thugh in anme this compilation "The Swedish Rising Force Years" since on the Eclipse and Fire & Ice eras the band members were (for the first time) all swedish, but i dropped that name was after including the Burn live clip from Budokan '94 show because on the Seventh Sign era line up only Yngwie and Mats Olausson were swedish. For the Lyon '90 tracks i corrected the aspect ratio of the original video, and now is on proper 4:3. The Sony Music TV Budokan Special was an special presentation for the japanese TV promoting the Fire & Ice album, so that's the sole reason for wich only live tracks of that album were broadcasted (i bet that the whole show were recorded). The video is from a S-Video transfer (i'm not sure if it was recorded through S-Video, maybe through composite video actually or sourced from a 2nd S-VHS tape, but the quality is too good for being a composite video transfer, that's for sure). Also, the original recording have an audio delay wich i corrected. Very special thanks to Crawford King for get and send me the Burn live clip from the original WOWOW TV broadcast, wich was excluded from the official "Live At Budokan" release of the very same concert. Now you can see that rare piece in all his glory. The Unrelased Promo are the videos also excluded from the official Malmsteen's video relases, despite having 2 collections featuring his video clips (The Collection from 1991 and Video Clips from 1999).

Recording dates, venues and lineage (where known) :
Tracks 01-04 :
London BBC Langham Studio 1
(John Peel session #4)
Recorded 7th January 1981
First broadcast 15th January 1981
Tracks 05-06 :
BBC Radio 1 Kid Jensen session
Broadcast 27th November 1982
Tracks 07-08 :
"Oxford Road Show" (BBC2 TV)
New Broadcasting House,
Oxford Road, Manchester, UK
Recorded live on 18th March 1983
Lineage: TV (UHF mono FM) -> Pioneer CT300 cassette deck (record) -> TDK-SA (Type II) cassette
Track 09 :
From BBC Radio 1 Richard Skinner session
Recorded 15th February 1984
Tracks 10-12 :
"The Tube" (Channel 4 TV)
Tyne Tees TV Studios, City Road,
Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England, UK
Recorded live on 6th April 1984
Tracks 13-16 :
London BBC Maida Vale Studio 5
(John Peel session #6)
Recorded 30th July 1985
First broadcast 7th August 1985
Lineage: BBC Radio 1 FM -> Roof aerial -> Pioneer TX710 tuner -> Pioneer CT300 cassette deck (record) -> TDK-SA (Type II) cassette
Track 17 :
From BBC Radio 1 'Saturday Live' session
Recorded live on 6th July 1985
Lineage: BBC Radio 1 FM -> Roof aerial -> Pioneer TX710 tuner -> Pioneer CT300 cassette deck (record) -> TDK-SA (Type II) cassette
Conversion to FLAC (for all tracks) :-
Master or traded 1st generation cassette tape -> Aiwa ADF770 cassette deck (play) -> Creative SB Extigy soundcard -> CoolEdit Pro 2.1 -> WAV -> CD-R -> EAC -> WAV - TLH -> FLAC 8 & .ffp
I know for certain that tracks 07-08 and 13-17 are definitely my own master recordings (FM0), and I think that some of the others may be as well (unfortunately I no longer seem to have all of the original tapes to check against); but where not, and they are from tapes received in trade, those tracks are all first generation copies, as far as I know.
Some of the sessions here are not complete, this is because the recordings on this compilation were originally added by me as filler tracks to the second disk of my previously uploaded 's-Hertogenbosch 1984-05-30 show, and I only included session tracks there that were of compatible audio quality to the show (note, incidentally, that not all the session dates given on my artwork for that are correct). Unfortunately the other songs from the Kid Jension and Richard Skinner session tapes that I have are not great quality, in fact they sound to me more like they were sourced from AM rather than FM recordings; and as for why I apparently did not record (or have maybe lost) the rest of the 'Saturday Live' session, I really have no idea!

notes
This seems like a very decent recording sourced from a radio broadcast. There may be a few of the usual glitches associated with recordings of this time. Any Fairport Convention show from this period with this line up (particularly with Richard Thompson) is worth it. I received my copy in trade. There are some interesting comments included, and I agree with them, particularly about the pillowcase remark. I think my copy has different tracking than that uploaded here earlier.

The is 26-minute set has pretty strong video quality and audio quality. The source seems great with a bit more DVD compression than was necessary, but all in all, still fine. There is room for an upgrade! No definitive date can be found and this show is not currently on entree. The venue is Palais des Festivals for the annual music convention, the Gala Du Midem, in Cannes, France, 1974. Video abruptly ends near end of Superstition. No top menu but individual songs are chaptered.

Note:
During the 1993 European FATE OF NATIONS tour, Robert Plant showcased his acoustic side while appearing on several radio and TV stations to promote his new album. Fate of Nations is considered by most fans as Robert's best album and best tour. During this time, Robert was tossing around the idea of doing an MTV Unplugged (which was very hot in the 90's), so during every press stop on this European tour, either being radio or television, Robert would do an acoustic set. Robert has always had a way with rockin on the acoustic jams, and after viewing this DVD, you will see why. He does seem right at home with this stuff. And in pure Robert fashion, the acoustic stuff brings out his humorous side as well.
LINERS FROM THE DVD:
This special-unplugged DVD features several great moments from _this tour, including an acoustic-set at a Italian coffee shop filmed for MTV. Italian radio featuring You Shook Me, Living Lovin' Maid and Elvis' Can't Help Falling In Love, rehearsals of 8:05 and If I Were A Carpenter at the Kings Head in the U.K. and an extremely rare version of Thru' With The Two Step performed in the United States.

David Bowie - 1996-06-XX - Café Oblomov, Russian TV (DVDfull pro-shot)
(DVDfull pro-shot)
Author: unknown
Video Source: tV analogue
Lineage: received in trade on a compilation DVD, also see notes
Menu: no
Chapters: arbitrary chunks roughly every 4½ minutes
Transfer Rate: 7mb/s
Format: PAL / 25fps
Audio: Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
Aspect Ratio: 4:3
Number of Discs: 1
01. The Jean Genie
02. Heroes
03. Ashes To Ashes
04. China Girl
05. Let's Dance
06. Loving The Alien
07. Hallo Spaceboy
08. The Heart's Filthy Lesson
09. Wild Is The Wind
10. Life On Mars?
Total Running Time: 69:20
Notes:
OS, by (seemingly) popular demand, Café Oblomov from NTV in Russia.
What you get is an interview by Troitskij Aretemij Kivovich, don't know exactly when, but clearly contemporaneous with David's performance at the Kremlin Palace on 18th June 1996. The interview is broken up by promo videos from singles from David's career (all of which seem to be shown in full), so it's interview-promo-interview-promo, and so on. All of the interview is overdubbed into Russian - so effectively you can't hear David or the interviewer.
The lip-sync drifts a little during The Jean Genie and stays so during the next interview (which you can't hear anyway) then is resolved at the start of Heroes.

This is an undated rehearsal for the Glass Spider Tour, and it contains rare versions of SHINING STAR / BECAUSE YOU'RE YOUNG / SCREAM LIKE A BABY, all dropped before the premiere show! Lots of talk between the songs and some mistakes now and then. A look at the running order shows that CHINA GIRL was intended as an encore instead of a part of the main set. The sound quality is very good. The title is rather stupid since THE JEAN GENIE isn't played!

“Limited unofficial edition of demos recorded at Schloß Nörvenich between 1968 and 69, following the release of Delay 1968. In fact, different versions of half of the songs have been previously released, these songs are just different takes, unaltered recordings for studio releases and a few bonus unreleased songs (see: Greyhound Greyhounds and Melting Away).
No label or further information is contained within the art or on the album itself; whatever cutout carving was etched in was gutted from the vinyl. Apparently released 2006, number of copies pressed
