Fleetwood Mac - 1977-08-25 - Las Vegas, NV (SBD/FLAC)

(Suondboard FLAC)

Fleetwood Mac - Mega-rare restored vinyl "Sin City 77" Alladin Center For The Performing Arts, Las Vegas 1977-08-25 Top ten FM show in excellent quality! (mp3 sample included)

The old guy returns for a while...

This is in my opinion one of the finest Fleetwood Mac shows ever put on tape. Not only are you getting the group in its prime while riding high on the "Rumours" tour, you are getting a heartfelt, genuine performance as well. The entire group is at peak, with Stevie Nicks as a standout. She has never sounded better. She catapults both "Dreams" and particularly "Rhiannon" into the stars. The girl is on fire, and it shows.

Although labeled as "Mega-rare", this double boot LP along with the Jethro Tull title "A Sack Full Of Trousersnakes" sold out very quickly and was repressed several times. This torrent is taken from a nearly mint first edition on Dragonfly Records. But even if you have this album, your humble seeder believes you have never heard it properly. All copies of this show ran just fast enough to make the performance sound a little sick. I've corrected the speed to make the the album pitch properly. Even though this was just by a small amount, it makes a huge difference in the sound quality.

This album is labeled "entire concert". Well, maybe it is and maybe it isn't. I have heard that "Monday Morning" may in fact have been played and isn't on this two-record set.

I'll be dropping in soon with more goodies already in the oven.

I am compiling this file the day after the show, my whole body is still hurting somehow and I am going back tonight. I don’t know if I can ATTEND 3 shows like this in a row! - how can they PLAY 3 shows in a row is beyond me :) It really was fantastic; I am obsessed with Disintegration so this setlist was like a dream. And I hear they change A LOT from night to night. Robert sounded great! And I felt he got sort of emotional - whoever was there should second this or not… Anyway - I was long past-due for some serious Cure-run - and I am overcompensating! As always, many thanks to BLG for mastering.

Notes:
What a fantastic concert. This show was just pure joy. A beautiful tapestry of sound was woven this night at the world's most famous arena and I was lucky enough to be in attendance. My only regret is that I did not attend the first two shows of this three night MSG stand.

This was my 7th show recorded with my trusty Nokia Lumia Icon Windows Phone and, once again, I think the results are rather damn good. The built-in HAAC mics can stand up to 140db without distorting the recording and there are no levels to set. You can't go wrong AND you don't have to worry about sneaking in 'equipment'. Some 'on the fly' splits: after track 04, after track 08, after track 12, after track 17, after track 18, all encores. I then used Audacity to split the large WAV files recorded into single tracks. Some drunken comments pre-show (track 00) and post-show (track 33) that you can feel free to delete.

Excellent video-to-DVD transfer of broadcast by Dutch TV of Sinéad O'Connor's appearance at 1995's Pinkpop Festival, on 5 June. The running order seems to have been changed and the show truncated, but it's a good disc nonetheless

Another fine treat I found hidden on one of my VHS tapes! I recorded this from the live broadcast of the festival. Even if you think you have this already - check what you have, as I’ve never seen or heard the first song in circulation! I believe it was transmitted live, while the rest was broadcast later the same day, or maybe there was an interruption for a news broadcast or something. Anyway, I was really happy to find this, as the image and sound quality are both also pretty fine!

The DVD has no menu, and is not indexed. Feel free to re-author it, and share back to the community.

A while back, I digitised my old VHS tapes and binned them after recording what I wanted to keep. Most (if not all) of these tapes have been recorded on various hifi stereo video recorders, some in single play, some in long play mode. I've used my most recent video recorder (Sony SLV-SE600) for playback and a stand-alone DVD-recorder (Sony RDR-HX780) to create DVDs. They have no menus and no chapters. If anyone feels compelled to re-author any of them - be my guest.

WHEN BURNING TO DISCS SPLIT BETWEEN TRACKS 8 & 9.

WE HAD THREE DRUNKEN DICKHEADS SAT BEHIND US TALKING OVER SOME OF THE TRACKS IN PLACES. WHEN TOLD TO SHUT UP THEY DID IT MORE, MY THOUGHTS ARE WHY BOTHER TO SPEND A SMALL FORTUNE GOING TO SEE A BAND AND THEN SPEND THE GIG TALKING AND NOT WATCHING WHAT IS GOING ON AND JUST RUIN IT FOR THE PEOPLE AROUND THEM. IT WAS TWO HOURS THAT WE MAY NEVER GET TO SEE AGAIN, THESE PEOPLE HAVE THE REST OF THEIR LIVES TO TALK. UPON REFLECTION AFTER LISTENING TO THE RECORDING THE OVERALL SOUND IS VERY GOOD AND I KNOW OF AT LEAST TWO OTHER SOURCES AT THE MOMENT. I AM SURE A 'CLEANER' VERSION WILL TURN UP BUT THIS IS MY CONTRIBUTION AT THE MINUTE.

The best sounding source from this brief period that I have yet to hear.  Definitely a soundboard or (possibly) an FM broadcast.  If FM, I would have thought that this would be more prevalent in trading circles, so I'll assume a soundboard.  Since Classics Live! I and II were released in the following years, it's quite possible that this was one of the sources to be used for those records.

Be that as it may, the band really sounds HOT this night.  Joe Perry had been gone for three years and Brad for over one, yet the band finally sounds cohesive.  Perhaps it's because they were sober!  That's a conjecture, not fact, but I've never heard this line-up sound so good.  They really breathe life into the old classics and the segues between Three Mile Smile/Reefer Head Woman/Rock In A Hard Place/Lord of the Thighs are spot on.  I'm especially happy to hear "Rock In A Hard Place".  Though not my favorite tune from the album, it certainly sounds good here.  Both shows that I saw on this tour only had "When the Lightning Stikes" played, so I'm happy to heard *anything* different!
